| my mother noticed that a dealer at a low-limit hold em table shuffled a deck by speading the cards around and then placed it aside as a new deck popped out of a hole in the table?? what was the point of shuffling the used deck then?

| I am a poker dealer, and it has to be just the house rules for that particular poker room. It is very common. Spreading the cards around is called washing the deck, which is done when opening a table, or changing the decks. The deck can be changed with a players request .
