| I Totally Agree With Dob...its Good Advice ..but Will Add... Dont Let Them Wind You Up Or Upset You.....thats Alot Of Their Game Plan...they Expect U To Get Moody Then Just Go For It...or Leave...they Win Either Way.... Also.... Use My Rule..'live To Fight Another Day'......just Fold Untill U Have A Better Hand......and.......if 2 Or More Ppl Go 'all In' Thet Them Take Eachother Out.... Its Harder To Play Against 5-10 Players Then It Is To Play Against 2-5..... Just Dont Be Scared....to Fold... Anton

| thats good advice anton. people with more chips like to bet more often and raise you, sometimes even when they have nothing, its just a way to scare you off |

| 'bullying' a table has always been a strange concept to me. The term suggests unfairness, but it far from that, more like 'part of the game'. You gotta beat them all in any case.

| I agree with the "seasoned" players in here, I am a newbie apprentice (by designation lol) but I can see the sound advice in the replys from the better players giving us their experienced advice...I sometimes, when in a room with players holding far far more chips than I ever had, going all in or placing a raise that I couldnt even match, even tho I had what could be "a chance winning" hand, folding that hand to preserve my chips, I became defensive in my play and "deferred" to the big chip player...that is until i followed the advice of a big Tourney player, now I have built myself 120K, how..? by letting the "all inners" before the flop even, kick against themselves, lose their chips to daft hands, then rejoin with sensible players...I still lose, naturally, but far, far less frequently than before and by a lesser and lesser amount of chips each time... a learning curve I am travelling just now, but the apex is looming, its..just..a..few... hands.....too.........far...........gasp... lastly tho, and an important point, the "all In" idiots play bully boy tactics, just fold, wait, let them bash themselves together, they will soon get tired of not "theiving" someones chips and leave...ahhh..peace..........jacky49 Last edited by Jacky49; 04-14-2008 at 06:23 PM.. |

| Great advice, never been intimidated by a bully and don't let it put you off your game! There are certain types of bullying. The out and out bully who raises and bets all the time and everywhere is just someone taking advantage of having a big stack, they are pretty much a "calling station", be patient, fold...fold...fold... and fold some more. The only time you want to stick your chips in with this player is when you have a top hand like A-A or K-K. I wouldn't want to go in with them for anything less, after all, you know they are going to call so cash in on their loose play. The other type of bully is one who has a big stack ,but takes advantage of it stratigicaly. Rather than pushing and raising all the time against the whole table, they will be more likely to pick on the short stacks from good positions such as from the button when it is folded round to them. They will raise forcing the small and big blind to fold unless they have a good hand effectively "stealing" the blinds. This is smart play sometimes. If they have position on a short stack and get into a hand with them they will often bet big on the flop regardless in an effort to push them off, they know the short stack cannot afford to be wrong when calling a bet. In the same way if a short stack checks to them they will often bet to try and push them off. A short stack is unlikely to be "check-raising" and so the check can be seen as a sign of weakness. |

| It's been said before but fold em and wait, if they are betting high on every hand they are dealt eventualy you'll get the winner.

| SOME GREAT READING IN HERE!... I've only been playing on line a couple of weeks...Have already learnt a lot and have amassed quite a few chips...I've noticed my game play has changed now, and I do "bully" the table a bit...but usually I do it for a reason...I have a good hand...Taking out two or three All In's in one fell swoop is quite a buzz...Trapping too is such fun!...I hate it when it happens to me...Then I'm still learning!...So...Bully's beware!...Some of us newbie bullies are fighting back in the card stakes!...Cheers everyone...Sox |
