Ok, i want to offer some tips to all newbies new to poker. If this is your first time playing poker or have played poker before but would still like to improve your game, i hope that what im offering will help. Im not a pro or a seasond player, i only started playing poker about year ago, but ive managed to aquire lots of chips and many medals since i started playing poker and i want to help the beginners to get the same acheivement/enjoyment out of playing poker as i have. First tip are simple... 1) Know the hands and the order they rank. there are many threads detailing this. 2) read up and check-out all threads giving tips and strategy of play. Tips on how to increase your bankroll... 1) Ok, you have your first 1000 chips and you're looking for a table to play. Choose a low limit table and play strong hands only, but play them strong... if you need to reset, so be it. But you want to try and double up as much as possible. Do this until you increase upto 10000ish chips. Then move onto higher buy-in tables. Note: try to avoid gamble tables. for example.. tables where players are betting just for the sake of it. Play tables, win some and then move on. 2) Play regular... you wanna use the above tac tic in one sitting if poss. allow a few hours or more to do so. 3) Again, play regular and think about which tables you want to play. Look for tables that are evenly spread in chips. Join that table and try and establish a command on that table. Dont rush it tho!.. again, play strong hands only. Win some and move on. 4) now you have a few chips in your bank try a sit-n-go table but only with a buy that you can afford. Here you will get a feel for what i call match play... you want to eliminate as many players as poss. I will move onto tourny play and sit-n-go play later. but for now, try what ive suggested and please comment or tell us how your doing. thx. fut.

Future tips continued.. sit-n-go tables.. Generally when i play sit-n-go games i usually play pretty tight throughout. I'll fold more hands than i'll play. And i rarely bluff unless ive been put into a situation to do so. If it looks like the table has players that are playing loose sit back a watch them take each other out. Ive been in many sit-n-go games where ive not even won a hand and still finished 3rd. If you have a good stack of chips raise the blinds and attack the lower stacked players. Avoid getting into a betting battle unless you're sure you will win. The pace of the game will change very quickly from tight to loose so be aware of this and adjust your game to suit. In sit-n-go games you can get a good read on the other players because you're not going to get moved to another table as you would do in a tourny. And on ring tables players come and go all the time. So, try and see who are the tight players and the loose players and adapt your style to suit incase you end up in a heads-up situation. Have a go at playing some sit-n-go's and just get a feel of how the game plays. Have fun! fut.

ok, you've now got a feel for how the game is played and you want start winning more chips and even go on to winning a sit-n-go game or a tourny, if you havent done so already. Hopefully you have been reading up about poker and have come across what is said in the game 'positional play'. Positional play is a very important part of the game of poker. If you understand and use positional play well, you will increase you chances winning more hands. So, just a quick break down of position play. If you're first to call before the flop thats bad position. Play tight! But if you're last to call before the flop, you are in good position... basically you can make a decision based on what the other players have done before you. So lets take an example... In this case you are on a sit-n-go table and the play is tight. You have just been dealt A K off suit in bad position. What are you going to do? There are several options to choose, but the option i'll choose is to just call... Because im in bad position. I want to see the flop because in reality i still only have Ace high. However if in good position there is only one choice, and that is to raise. The table is tight remember so you want to raise enough so you rid the limpers. Only those who are holding good cards will normally call. Then its all about the flop. Agian, as an example the flop isnt good. a mixture of cards and you still only have Ace high and there are 3 in with you. In bad position (first to call) i will only chaeck. In good position it all depends on what bets, if any, have been made before me will i decide what to do. If ive been checked and its me to play i will put in another bet just to ask the question to the others.. "do you have a hand?" if im called i'll play tight but if im raised i'll fold. depending on which player raised. You have made notes remember on those who are loose/tight players. A K off suit in good position...depending on whos called/bet i will raise big. And even if the flop isnt good (Ace high still) i will put in a continuation bet. medium to high. this will pose a question to the others. more oftern or not they'll fold. Learn positional play! play lower tables and get a feel for how easy it is to read the game in good position. Gamble... you want to win! you need to gamble. When to gamble i'll move onto next time. So, paly some tables..whether sit-n-go or tournys but practice using positional play. have fun fut.
