Part of the game is bluffing, in my opinion you have to know what your doing to bluff cause it could all go "belly" up, I bluff but not all the time, and for me it doesnt normally work,

Just stick in there and bluff him back :-)

it's called putting your opponent on "tilt" and i love doing it. it makes them call silly bets and make rash moves, it's a good way to get lots of chips with little risk. if someone is doing it to you and you fined yourself on tilt walk away and take a time out.

when you find yourself seated with a chip bully exspecialy one that is bluffing and showing then you should fold all but very preamium hands lik AA KK or Ak suited then weaight for them to make there bet and then hope to take there chips or pick up your chips and run dont let them force you to call with bad hands just becouse you have allowed them to make you mad that is what they want

I used to complain to my poker buddies about them bluffing me out. The same buddies that are teaching me the game, they explained to me, thats all Texas hold'em is a mental game and part of it was bluffing your opponents. So, now I try to keep that in mind. Still don't care to be bullied around tho. Also, when I would fold a good hand to a bluff, I would want to know what they had. At first in the beginning I would ask, what did you have....they would show me for a while. Then they started telling me, I should of paid to see their cards. So does a "real poker player" show his cards? I think ppl. show to keep you off balance, it could be their game strategy.

So once again, a newbie (not you, SC!) manages to open up an old thread enroute to their 5 posts!

But since you asked, "auntie"...

There are MANY theories that players use in deciding whether or not to show cards... Yoda summed it up brilliantly earlier on this thread... poker is a mental game, and it's all about getting your opponent off their game (and if you're really good, moving them to 'tilt').

In a very friendly environment, when the stakes aren't high, and I am among friends, I sometimes will show almost every hand. In a more staked or serious environment, I am less likely to show, but I will pick my spots... and I think I won't say too much more here!

Cheers! To the Dirty Girls Artist!
