| I was always under the impression that the player with the highest kicker would win the pot when cards on the spread and only one card in the pocket made the winning hand. But I played this game, I can't remember the exact hand values, but say the spread was JJJ42, I had 49, my opponent had 4Q; We both had Jacks full over Fours, yet the pot was split even though he had the high kicker, why? | Best 5 cards wins. Kicker only counts when players have the same 2 pair or pair. Same straights or same full houses split the pot since they take up all 5 cards. |
