Default Mini-tourneys & Tounaments

Hi all,

Just found this place 2 days ago and I simply L-O-V-E this place !!! Kow-tows to the people who created this wonderful place !

Have been very lucky and made some $ in my 1-2 days of play and am trying to play some mini-tourneys, but dunno how to go about doing it.

So, I see the 'Mini-tourney tables' section, and these are my questions:

1) I see "Newbies (10k max) Buyin: 400", I have 50K+ in my capital but I'm only been a member for a 1-2 days, Am I considered a 'newbie' and join?

2) I see different names for the tourneys, '1k Double Stack ', 'ToweringTexan Tourney', 'TheBassmaster Tourney', 'Bluejay Tourney' etc, - Are they all No Limit Texas Holdem poker with the same rules, or are they all different? It doesn't say anywhere..

3) I see a table that's registering with 4 players on already, but it doesn't say when that tourney is starting, so,
- Do I register and just sit there (for hours) and wait (??)
- Or is there a standard time a tourney will start regardless of the number of players registered?

4) I see a tourney that's running with 6 players left, and there's a comment that says, "Approximative time remaining : 25 minutes".
- Does it mean that's a time limit to the tourneys, regardless whether there's a winner at the end of "25 minutes"?

5) I see tourneys names like
- Single stack,
- Double stack,
- Short handed,
- Turbo Tourney,
- Ultra Fast (Time limit?),

6) How do I join the actual tournaments (not minis) ?

I have tried looking at all the threads but can't find the answers to these questions, any heads up to read the answers myself will do.

Thanks in advance !

Answers:
#1 NO you cannot play at the newbie or learning table with that amount in your account. Does not matter if you started one day ago or months ago.

#2 Mini tourneys are different that the regular tables. Everyone gets 800 chips to start. Last player at the table wins the pot.

#3 There isn't a time on when the mini tourney is going to start. Once the table fills, your on your way.

#4 No, that is an estimated time for the end of the tourney. Could go longer, could be shorter.

#5 Best off to drop by a table when it is on going to see what is happening.

To enter a tourney (not Mini) look at the bottom of the page where all the tables are listed. It will give you a time when registrations begin and a time when the game will begin.

Hi Bassmaster,

Thanks for the prompt reply, much appreciated !

So does it mean I have to register, sit there and wait for the tourney to start? (From what I have seen, I can be sitting there for hours.. )

How many players (10?) before a tourney starts? What if, after the last player registered, there's still 8-9 players after 3-4 hours? Will the tourney starts?

Thanks all in advance !

Welcome Welcome Jedi! You will soon be addicted beyond all help. The upside is that you will be in fabulous company. Some tables need 6 to start and some require 8. Many players watch a few tables at a time and jump on the one that starts first. (some players play a few tables at the same time).

All patience is rewarded - you will soon see. I look forward to playing you and will keep an eye out.

BTW - I love this place too! gl at the tables. . . . .

If you talking about the mini's. Yep you would have to wait until at least seven players are seated. It seems that thru the day all the tourneys fill up fast tho.

Not sure if you knew this or not, but the poker rankings like "Poker Wizard" aren't based on your, but on your post count. Like so:

Welcome home...lol...and if ya want to try a multi-tables tourn, like you'd see on TV,then enter through the lobby at the top of the page on the right side.Right after you log in,you'll see the "OP66 LOBBY"...then just click on tournaments link, and you'll see all upcoming tourns(1 every 5 hrs...).Just click on the tourn itself for info,buy-in's and the like...all the info's there,as opposed to registering at the bottom of the page.
Cheers m8.

Hey all,

I'm all excited. Just registered for my 1st tournament (NL Hold'Em, 5000.00. 52 cards [#573]). It's gonna start at 02:00hrs.

My question is -

1) How do I get to my table? (There's nothing for me to click on... )

2) Assuming I'm extremely lucky, and I won on my table, how do I get to the next table?

3) What other things should a first-timer like me take note off?

Thanks in advance !

1.) The tournament should pop up at 02:00 hours. If at 02:02 nothing has popped up then go into the flash lobby and search for the tournament and click take a seat.

2.) After a while as more and more players get eliminated you will automatically be moved to a different table. Recently there has been some problems where the table that you get moved to never loads. If this happens either hit F5 or open up the flash lobby and click take a seat.

3.) Just play your game and follow your gut and instinct. Learn as you go and just remember to have. People will give you tips and advice as you go.

Thanks forestking for the tips. What exactly do you mean by: "If at 02:02 nothing has popped up.."

Does it mean that I don't have to do anything and a new window will automatically pop up on my screen when the tounament starts?

Also, on average, how long does a tournament like this usually takes? I might need to start planning my time if it's gonna takes half a day.. Haha..

Thanks again.

A new window should pop up, but sometimes stuff happens. I say give it 2 minutes, and if no new window pops up then go take a seat in the flash lobby. And these type of tournaments can last up to 2 hours, if not more.

Your table should have popped up by now, just checking in.
