LOL = Laugh Out Loud, or in some cases Lots Of Love

LMAO = Laughing My A** Off (equivalent of PMSL = P***ing My Self Laughing)

I am so happy to see someone that can not be afraid to ask questions! I was on this site for 8 weeks, before I finally found out how to post a thread! Everyone is so helpful. You can ask any question in the world, and get the true answer, except one. "what cards are you holding"

This is from “Poker Room Etiquette” post from the Towering Texan

I thought that certain players were being a little mean with their ‘ul’ (which I thought they were saying ‘You Lose’). I found out that I was wrong. After I studied the terms below I saw that they were just nice people just saying ‘ul’ (unlucky).

From Towering Texan:
On the tables if you have chat capabilities it is completely appropriate to congratulate a player on a well played hand (wp) or a skillfull play; a good bet (wd); a nice win (nh, n1, gh); and excellent hand (vnh, v vnh); and most importantly attending the game when the player exits (gg).

It's just as important to be a good sport ab out it all as it is to play, so have fun and enjoy.

Here is a brief list of the terms that are regularly used on the tables:

bbl Be back later.
bf- boyfriend...
brb: be right back
btw: by the way
g1 Good one.
gc: good call or good cards
gg = good game
gl: good luck
gf = Good Fold or Girl Friend depending on context
gr8 = great
hf: have fun
IMO = In my opinion
kk : everything is ok
LMAO ..... laugh my flipping a* off!!
LOL = Laugh out loud
M8 = mate (it s mean friend)
n1 = Nice one
nc Nice call.
nf not fair
nh = nice hand
nhs Nice hands.
np = no problem
Nt: Nice try.
OMG=oh my god (or gosh)
Omfg = "oh my freaking god"
ow - you took all my chips/that hurt
ppl=people
roflmao - roll on floor laughing my as* off.
ROTFL = rolling on the floor laughing
rbi=right back in or runs batted in for those players who just wont get eliminated
sng Sit-n-go.
str8 straight
tc = take care
tgif=thank god I folded, for those especially risky bets.
tnx, tu, ty, tx Thanks (you).
ttyl talk to you later
TPTK : top pair, top kicker
ty = thank you
tyvm Thank you very much.
ul=unlucky
ulm8 - unlucky mate
vn1 Very nice one.
vn Very nice.
vnh = very nice hand
vvn Very very nice.
vvnh Very very nice hand.
vul Very unlucky.
WAWW ..... why are we waiting?!
wb Welcome back.
wcp World class player.
wd = well done
WDIDT ...... why did i do that?! (i put it because i like it, could be fun
wp = well played
WTH = What the heck, often a different last letter indicates high frustration
xx=sharing the love (lol)
yw You're welcome.
zzzz = please make a play, falling asleep waiting
