12-4-07 Tip for the day : Most new players make this mistake, they play a high card with a low kicker ( kicker: a low card in your hand) though Next time you are at a table look for this and see how many players lose hands because of a low kicker.

12-5-07 Tip of the day:Reading the board is a very big part of your game. New players and players that have been playing for awhile leave this part of their game out. (The board is the five community cards that all players at the table use to make their hand.) Reading the board not only tells what you have in your hand but also tells you what other players might have. You should read a board on the flop the turn and the river. Sounds easy lets give it a try. The board shows 2h 8c 6h 8d 4h think about this and tell me the five best hands players could have. I will post the answer at 3:00 EST. I will post a new hand every day for 30 days or as long as players have an intrest in this post.

12-6-07 Tip of the day: Lets talk about middle and low connectors such as j 10, 9 8 or 7 6 ( connectors: cards that connect to each other in order of rank.) They do best in low limit games and multiway pots (multiway: 3 or 4 players in a pot.) But heres the catch--- you can play big pairs from any position at the table, but you should only play middle and low connectors from the last two positions, on the button or one seat right of the button.(button: a small disk that moves around the table to show who is dealing.) Ok now on to the board of the day kh-Js-ks 9c-10s give me the top 5 hands on that board. Lets see who gets this right first.I will post the answer later today.

12-7-07 Tip of the day: I was looking through the fourm last night and found a lot of questions about players playing their hands and losing their chips. Lets talk about this. This happens alot there are many reasons for this, I am going to list a couple. (1) Starting out you should play on the lowest limit table. (2) newbies play way to many hands. (3) You don't stop to think what the other players may have in their hand. Ok there is three I will list more on the next post. 12-8-07 Tip of the day:This part is continued from yesterday. More reasons why new players lose their chips.(4)By playing week hands (5) over betting a hand (6) playing hands out of position (7) not knowing when to fold. Ok now for todays TIP:This tip will improve your game, but you have to stick with it for a while. Only play hole cards that add up to 20. ( 10 jack queen king and ace) and high suited or unsuited connectors ( 9 10 jack queen king and ace). Try it,it works (this is playing what is called a tight game) now on to the board of the day:8c- 5h- 4d- 2h- Qs- As always I will post the answer later in the day.

12-9-07 Tip of the day: Never draw to a lower hand when a higher hand is possible. Say you are in late position with suited 7-6 on the flop comes 9-8-7- rainbow (three different suits) you have made a pair with a draw to a straight. Take another look at the board. what if a 10 comes off on the turn . Aha you made a stright, but anyone who has a jack has a bigger straight. You may only have three outs the jacks in the deck- just to get a tie. Say you hit your jack, now what happens if someone has a Queen.-------- (think about it) The board of the day 4h-7C-2d-Qc 3h I will post the answer later in the day.

12-10-07 Tip of the day: Do not try to bluff on a low limit table some one will call you and you will end up losing a lot of chips.

12-11-07 Tip of the day: Did you ever wonder what the chances are that your cards will win the hand.
Heres how to find out, take a deck of cards pick any two cards out of the deck use them as your hand, deal out nine more hands that would be a total of ten hands and play them like you were sitting at a real table. Repeat that ten times, this will give you and idea of the persentage of time that hand will win.

12-12-07 Tip of the day: We are going to start to talk about position play. Position is what seat you are sitting at, in relation to the dealer. The table is split in three sections, early--middle--and late. We have a lot to cover on this part of your game so I will be talking about it for a few days. Early position is the first four seats left of the dealer we call these seats 1--2--3--4 Middle position are seats 5--6--7 late position are seats 8--9--10, ten is the dealer. one is the small blind, two is the big blind. Ok thats all for today, tomorrow we will talk more about it.

12-13-07-Tip of the day: When you are in early position, seats1-4 you should play very tight by this I mean only the best starting hands AA-KK-AK-QQ-JJ and 10-10-AQ suited. The reason for this is you do not have any information on what other players have in their hands. With AA-KK-AK-QQ you should raise three times the big blind, just limp in with with JJ 10-10 and AQ (limp in:In this case the same bet as the big blind) from Pros to newbies they lose more chips in early position than they will in middle or late position, for this reason you have to be very careful. More on this tomorrow.

All of the staff here try very hard to answer questions and post answers that will improve your game, and we enjoy doing it. Our goal is to make you understand the game of holdem.There are many parts to this game and the deeper we go into it the more complicated it gets, and we understand that. You must know by now that this an easy game to play but a hard game to master. All of us here want to thank you for your remarks and comments, they have been great. 12-15-07 Tip of the day:Ok I have received comments on the small amount of hands you can play in early position this is normal for new players. If you want to open your game up a bit I have more hands that you might want to play. 1010 99 KJs QJs J10s A10s A9s KQs (s is for suited cards). Now you have to be very carefull playing these hands, you have to know when to fold them. If someone raises fold them. The problem with these hand is you might hit a flop but still have a losing hand.

12-16-07-Tip of the day: Today I am going to show you four groups of hands.These groups of hands have approximately the same value before the flop. All the hands in a group can be played in the same way pre flop.
Group 1: AA-KK-QQ-AKs-AQs.
Group 2: JJ-1010-AJs-J10s-AQ
Group 3: A10s-KJs-QJs-AQ
Group 4: 99-88-K10s-Q10s-J9s-109s-98s-AJ-Kq
(s are suited cards)
Of course these hand will be played differently after the flop so keep that in mind. Next time you play always raise and reraise with group 1. Group 2. You can raise with these hands,but if you are reraised just call.
Group3. Always see the flop unless you have to call 3 or 4 bets cold. Group 4. Just limp in with these hands if someone raises you can call to see the flop.

12-18-07-Tip of the day: Lets talk about TILT.
This is one of the worst things that can happen to a poker player. Yet it happens to all of us. You loose three or four big hands that you though you were going to win. Players are winning your chips on the river card. All of A sudden your game plan is gone and you start to play any hand you get. You are mad, frustrated, you want to get even. This is when you are on TILT. When this happens you are going to lose more cips if you keep playing, your mind set is to get even and it is not on the game at hand. What to do when this happens sit out a couple of hands, get a snack, leave the table until you calm down. I don't think anyone can explain why this happens but it does.

12-19-07- Tip of the day: There are only six ways to be dealt a pair. Since you have only four cards of each rank to work with when creating pairs, there are only six possible combinations.

12-20-07-Tip of the day: There are 1,326 different pocket hands you can be delt. Seventy eight of them are pairs. So you should be dealt a pair every 17 hands the odds of geting a specific pair are 220 to 1 this is someting you should keep in mind when you play.

12-21-02-Tip of the day: Do not play TRASH HANDS. There are some hands that you see played all the time in low limit games.You will also occasionally see those hands win some pots. Hands like 83s-T4-J6-52s-72- 95 ect. If you play hands like this regularly you will lose all your chips. It's that simple.
