Best thing I can tell you is to read the strategies and newbies section of the forum and remember that on-line is very little like real life poker.

um,if you can limp in with a pocket pair then do so, if you get raised and your holding twos through to about 4s/5s then fold, youve got to see it like 'would i call a bet when only holding bottom pair' you only really want t raise/call a raise if your holding at least 7's

only play premium hands, such as J10 through to AA, if you can utilize suited connectors well play those too

DONT PROTECT YOUR BLINDS WITH A NOTHING HAND

dont bet 1 dimensionally, throw some high and low bets out there

when playing a tourney set a plan such as 'for every ten people eliminated i want to get atleast 1000' to stop your self getting blinded

never let your emotions get the btter of you, if you suffer the wrath of 27 beating your AA move on and win the next hands; and remember if someone has beat you with say q6 theyve got lucky, you now know they play poor hands so you dont have to worry too much bout them beating you very often. MAKE USE OF HE NOTES FUNCTION

Try to only play premium hands and play them well. Observe the other players and use this to judge where you stand in a hand and bet accordingly. In general I find it useful to categorise this judgement into four categories.

1) Well ahead - You've got close to the nuts or you're sure you are ahead and have little chance of being outdrawn - Bet Slow to the River and then raise - your aim here is to secure as many chips as possible for your hand

2) Slightly ahead - You have hit a hand but think other players may be able to outdraw you - Bet Hard and be ready to fold if you get called and the draw hits - your aim here is to make sure you secure the pot or make someone pay for drawing and missing

3) Slightly behind - You think someone else has a better hand than you but you have a chance to outdraw them - Try to see cards as cheaply as possibly and judge your chances of drawing against the pot odds - your aim here is to avoid losing more chips unless it's favourable to make the draw

4) Well behind - You have nothing and no real drawing chances - Fold to any bet - you have no aim here, you're beaten so get out and wait for the next hand

This is quite simplified but may help you with some of your decisions.

IF I'VE GOT ONE TIP MATE IT'S THIS, STUDY WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND THE TABLE AND USE THE PLAYER NOTES FACILITY. THIS WAY YOU CAN CHECK UP ON YOUR NOTES WHEN YOU PLAY SOMEONE RARELY AND MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN THEIR STYLE. WE ALL LIKE TO THINK WE'RE HARD TO READ BUT ONLY VERY FEW PLAYERS DO NOT HAVE SOME SORT OF PATTERN TO THEIR PLAY.

P.S. NONE OF THIS WORKS WHEN YOU'RE DRUNK
