Default why do people fold for no reason?

i've noticed a lot of people folding seemingly for no reason. for example, they'll call preflop but then fold after two people have checked on the flop. why wouldn't they also check? is it etiquette or what? thanks!

i honestly don't know why. if its free to see another card ill always check. the player might have just pressed sit out and it folded them automatically. If the cards could beat your hand who cares if they fold haha

I do it sometimes.

If I limped in on the blind for example with 2 n 3 offsuit. Flop comes in A J 7 for example.. I will fold.. Not worth getting tempted by a 3 on the turn or something..

i often do the same, just sves a little time aswell. also if im chassin a flush or open ended straight (i wouldnt normaly chase a single ended straight) and i dont hit it on the river, i may fold so i dont show my cards...

i seldom fold when i can check because you never can truly tell until the turn and river are shown. however sometimes it is a good idea to fold instead of checking so that you dont get tempted into betting on the possibility of a low hand turning into a winner on turn and river.
usually i will buy into these situations for 15-30 chip bets. but above that no.

You've also have the added bonus of making your hands look stronger when you check in future hands.

If you've folded in the past when you've got nowt, your opponent should place your possibly crap hand on a possible winning one, which might win you extra pots in the future.

ok - i will be the first one in this thread to admit that sometimes I fold accidentally when I meant to check - - just doing too many things at once and hit the wrong box.

GL at the tables!!!

I don't think anyone means to do it. Sometimes if it's not the only thing your doing online, you can lose track of the game and hear those beeps so you race back and instinctively fold then realise you were big blind and could have checked. IN FACT, I just did that. hehehe!!!

I go by it is free to check and free to fold, if i have no money invested then i'll probably fold if the hand is only soso preflop and if someone checks and my hand sucks, i check too, i won;t fold until they raise, lol

Usually when people check and I have nothing, I put in at least a little because it tends to drive people off. A little is better than nothing when you have nothing to begin with.

i wondered the same thing..never voiced my queery though. When i play and have a rubbish hand ill fold it unless im big blind then ill check to see the flop...if the flop isnt in my favour (99% of the time ) then ill fold because i didnt want to play the hand in the first place and dont want to get sucked in by the river or turn just to loose all my chips
