Default Why do we win in order

Hi, I am a newby but I think I got a pretty good grip at texas holdem. There is a couple of steps I do not understand. Sometimes when I have the best hand some of the other players gets some of the pot before I get the rest. Neither do I not understand how it is determined how many chip the other player gets.

Can anyone please explain me this rule?

if you are playing someone who bets 2000chips and you only have 1000 and u call then go on to win the hand you get your bet i.e 1000 chips back then 1000 chips back from the player you bet against and he gets the chips he bet over yours back i.e the other 1000 he put in

if you click on 'previous' at the top of the screen you can see the previous hand.
