Question Advice needed

right oh...

Im coming to the age where its close to driving (a month until i can start lessons)

im on a very tight budget because i live in a very low income house..

financially i can afford either a car but not the lessons..and vice versa. We do have a car in the house hold that ill be able to drive so i was just wondering on what other people think i should do.

get a car or get the lessons ?

Probably better off learning to drive, than having a car and not knowing how to drive it. My opinion though.

get the car so (when) if you have an accident there's another car to drive.

its 17 to drive over here
and its not free
but yeah getting a jjob would cover both the car and lessons ...however it would mean completely dopping out of college ...which isnt going to happen lol

the lottery though ...hmmm ...i wonder

is it possible to rig it ?

If you already have a car in your household, why "pay" for lessons? No one in your house will teach you? You could learn for nothing, get your license, and buy a car at no additional cost.

Definately.. Learn to drive first. Please remember plenty of people thought they could teach themselves with their new purchase, and ended up hurting themselves and other innocent people. So take the lessons first. Then purchase your new ride with confidence you can handle it.

Best of luck.

Cheers,
s2n (Jarrett)

ok tb1rd mate. no bullshit. ntm's school of driving. 1st thing even though money might be tight, insuring the household car to practice in is false economy, unless you got someone 2yr licensed and fully comp sat beside you every minute you on road. how minutes is that gonna be.
my advice shop around for instructors and phone them, ask for a deal, get them to book your test on their credit card and provisionally book them for ten hours tuition, then when you get test date say thursday , you want 3hrs tuition tuesdayrs wedrs thursday. take test.
1st, always run your cockpit procedures. get in, check handbrakes on and out of gear. adjust seat, adjust mirror, seatbelt on, recheck handbrake and gears. start engine.
now the fun starts. turn off engine.
get your instructor to take you to a hill and park up.
follow cockpit procedure again. start car, into gear, clutch to biting point and hold, handbrake off. if you roll forwards or backwards you fail. the 3 most important things indriving are
1 clutch control
2 clutch control
3 and you cant look inyour mirrorstoo often.

The insurance for a learner drive is very big £1,000 plus and under the age of 25 years is also very expensive.
If you learn to drive first it is a skill you'll have for life and always help employment wise, even if you cant afford a car.
The best why to go for insurance when you pass our test is to go on your mum or dad's for the family car and it could be cheaper to have them insure any car you get and then add you.
So I think learning makes more sense first.
