u learn to drive over here is 17,but u have to be 18 for this site.....mmmmmmmmm,but any way go for your lessons first,use your mum and dads,u go as third party driver,u can still build up your no claims bonus whilst getting the use of your parents car and saving for your own car,and u dont have to fork out for INSURANCE,TAX,MOT,PETROL,WEAR AND TEAR,TYRES ETC,ANYWAY GOOD LUCK WHEN IT COMES THE TIME...

Can you not get free lessons from a experienced driver that is a friend, I taught my son and 2 other relatives how to drive

its not the driving now thats hard,when i went for my h.g.v. its the hazard perception and theory that alot fail on.....

4me it depends on wot budget u hav,whether u hav2pay4yor insurance on the car in ya household and if uve had any previous experience in/on any vehicle.
notthemessaiah gives sum very gud practical advice, Quote"1st, always run your cockpit procedures. get in, check handbrakes on and out of gear. adjust seat, adjust mirror, seatbelt on, recheck handbrake and gears. start engine.
now the fun starts. turn off engine.
get your instructor to take you to a hill and park up.
follow cockpit procedure again. start car, into gear, clutch to biting point and hold, handbrake off. if you roll forwards or backwards you fail. the 3 most important things indriving are
1 clutch control
2 clutch control
3 and you cant look inyour mirrorstoo often."
I must ad signal n look over ya shoulder in to ya blind spot wen pulling off from stationary.
Buy n read through the highway code,that will give u gud idea of wot is expected of u.
Learning from ppl who r not qualified instructors can b misleading,ppl who hav been drivin on their own pick up bad habits and i wud say +90% of ppl on the road r bad drivers in 1respect or another(i fall into this catagory all to often ).
U probably dont wanna b spending hours of ya free time with a parent (teaching u2drive),so personally i wudnt buy yor own car unless,u can afford all the costs Shrooms talks about,u hav friends u hang about with who r fully comp with +2years experience who will take it seriously,can remember alot about wen they where takin their lessons n test and hav plenty of hours2giv ya.Otherwise go4a instructor.Plus u dont know how u will take2it,it can take alot of practice n more that 1test b4u pass.
Maybe just get ya theory test dun 1st.
