Default Australian perspective

Apparently in 2011 a study found that the average Australian walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Australians drink an average of 22 gallons of beer a year. That means, on average, Australians get about 41 miles per gallon!

If you’re wondering what that is in metric I worked it out. It's 0.07 Litre per Km, or 6.89 Litres per 100 Km, or 14.51 Km’s per Litre.

Now if you’re wondering what that is in a ‘real’ measurement I worked it out. The capacity of a stubby is generally somewhere between 330 ml and 375 ml. So that's between 4.78 Km and 5.45 Km per stubby.

But to make it a simple as possible it’s between 114.72 Km and 130.80 Km per carton.

However, I suspect a full strength beer might reduce that average somewhat.

This is cool

good stuff steve.
now if you could put a pin head the size of london on a map with a population of around 8 million, compared to a total population of about 21 million in australia ,i think we would look lost

Tel,
Perth in Western Australia has a population of I think somewhere around 1.5 million. Because of our love of the urban dream etc we have an urban sprawl and the city suppposedly has an area equal to Greater London (not just London) and Los Angeles with a much smaller population than either of those two giant metropolises.
Causes huge infrastructure problems in delivery of services such as water, electriciy, sewerage, transport etc and will need to be addressed soon.

The 900 miles...is that before or after they've drunk the 22 gallons?
