Default Best Guitarist Ever

Just havin a bit of session here and listening to Peter Green's Slaybo Day - What a Beautiful piece. Personally I reckon he's the best ever. Difference of opinion with the party. Others thinkin Clapton, Slash Jimmy Page - What you Think

I personally love George Clinton's work, as well as Tony Iommi.

really, NTM?... I can see him as a pick for all around musical genius, but purely as "the best guitarist ever"...??
we may have to disagree for the first time, brother.

NTM HAS A VERY GOOD POINT, ZAPPA DA MAN BUT OPINIONS WILL ALWAYS VARY AND I CAN'T LET THIS THREAD SLIP BY WITHOUT MENTIONING JIMMY HENDRIX, THE MAN MADE IT SPEAK.
I HAVE MY FAVOURITES, VAI IS GOOD, MALMSTEIN IS BETTER BUT AS AN INNOVATOR AND GENIUS I'M GONNA HAVE TO GO FOR JIMMY.
WE'LL NEVER AGREE BUT SURELY NOBODY COULD EVER DENY JIMMY WAS SPECIAL

i know what more you can say, how about "GREAT GUGALY MUGALY". but ill tell you all WHAT not many have a clue about this but mr paul mcartney could play the 6 string as well as any1 and he was more respecred for that by his peers then all of the fans would ever know but he is not the best 6 string player but he IS the best damn bass player that ever lived and there is no question about that. but for me i still have to go with hendrix. sure zappa was a one of a kind masterful genius and there were others too and i guess that there are so many that im not even gonna put all of their names here but for me personally i have to pick mr jimmy. but if i had to pick the best 6 string player that is still alive , i mean there are sooo many but my personal fav would have to be ANGUS YOUNG. i would like to have angus come to my house and just plug up his axe to my equipment and whail whatever he feels inside of him. ill bet that i would cry laugh, crap my pants and have an orgasmic experience all at the same time.

one of my home town local hero's is our very own chas chandler. famous for being in the animals and not so famous for being jimi hendrix's manager and promoter; i was at a party at chas's house about 20 yrs ago when i was trawling his private reel to reel collection, shit me if i didnt find a jam session with jimi and eric clapton. as yet unreleased and worth more than i cud eva calculate.

carlos is without a doubt one of the few 'living' guitar legends. he's the best at what he does; but he's not the best.

For me its... Page, Hendrix, Clapton, Carlos S, Richie Blackmoor.

Love em all but I am sure that there are a few in classical area who are technically better.

Cheers

Mac
