That's a hard one to call, i honestly have no idea which way the fight will go.

Del La Hoya and Pacquiao are both legends but are coming towards to the end of their careers now.

Pacquiao will come up 12 pounds and two weight classes to make it happen, but Oscar will have to come down a weight class and hasn’t fought at 147 in seven years.

It's gona be a hard fight for Pacquiao cause of the size and weight difference but can't count him out.

I realy don't have a prediction for this fight and i don't know who i'd prefer to win either.

i think del la hoya pound for pound is in the top ten of all time greats but i must say one thing about him. when he was younger he was a killer. now as he has gotten older hes still good but he doesnt have the killers way anymore. i call this one a decision to a split or a tie.

Manny Pacquicao shouldn't have a chance against De La Hoya, but he does. In theory De La Hoya should beat him because the general theory when it comes down to this type of fight is that a good bigger man being De La Hoya will beat a good smaller man being Pacquicao.
You would think that Pacquicao has too much weight to gain on De La Hoya but I believe Pacquicao will be better conditioned and have more desire than Oscar.
I believe De La Hoya's major problem is his inability to close out a fight. There was a time when De La Hoya was in his prime that he was the best at finishing an opponent. There is major difference between finishing off a wounded opponent and maintaining your energy and skill levels long enough to win a close decision.
If you look at his fights against Mayweather and Hopkins, in each of those fights he was ahead but he went on to lose the fight. It could be said that he hasn't won a meaningful fight since 2002.
If Pacquicao can handle the early onslaugt by the hands of De La Hoya then I believe Pacquicao will win the fight on points, if he cannot handle it then it could be over by the 5th with Oscar wiining by K.O. Many forget that Pacquicao is current considered the best pound for pound fighter in the world and he is in his prime at 28, I think he is going to be able to handle the early rounds and then punish De La Hoya in the latter stages of the fight, he might even win it by TKO or K.O.
Whatever happens it should be an interesting watch, looking forward to it!

De la Hoya will win this fight! He is not just the bigger man ,he is the much much bigger man !12 pounds doesnt sound much but at the pinnicle of this sport its a vast difference. You only have to look at how Hatton struggles when he steps up a few pounds .He isnt half as effective or powerful.Remember between the wayin and the actual fight Del la Hoya will put on almost a stone in weight while pacquiao is already fighting above his weight and probably won't put on a single pound. For me the weight gap will be to big.

I would definitely agree with you if this fight was happening 3 to 4 years ago, but De La Hoya doesn't have it in him anymore and he isn't just fighting a decent fighter, he is fighting a top quality fighter currently the best in the world. Pacquiao shouldn't have a chance against a man of De La Hoya's size and reputation but the bottom line is he does, I just can't see De La Hoya winning on points he will have to win by a K.O./TKO.

Lmao, my prediction was spot on. De La Hoya looked sluggish and he couldn't handle Manny's speed. The early tactics shown by Pacquicao were awesome, he just stayed on the outside and picked his spot, his accuracy was great. He just dominated De La Hoya and by Round 7 there was only going to be one winner, Round 8 looked t be fizzling out but Manny got the T.K.O. and looks set to fight Hatton at Wembley, gonna a be a tough one for Hatton! As for De La Hoya, surely thats it now, he should quit while people still admire him. He kept boxing together throughout the 90's but he won't be able to live on his reputation if he carries on and fights like he did last night, because he was awful! Please retire Oscar while your place in the Boxing Hall Of Fame may still be in tact.
