As for living as a migrant in another country, it's very very simple. YOU adjust to the laws, rules and conventions of the country you migrate to. The country SHOULDN'T adjust to you. After all, you as the migrant 'chose' to move there.

I can't see what's so hard about that. If you don't like the country you moved too sod off out of it!!!

It is just 'my' opinion in the thread's first post that British are now in minority, and the example i've used to illustrate this is true....this could be seen as 'racist' against the British in their own country.
I'm all for people emigrating, but surely they should have to learn to live with that countrys laws and beliefs like we have to if we emigrated...... it's only fair...if you don't like it....LEAVE, why should we have all our beliefs, religous ceremonies etc 'put away into hiding' incase we upset immigrants to this country. IT'S NOT FAIR>>>>THAT'S RACIST TOO.

I personally don't agree that anyone should have to give up their religious or cultural beliefs just because they move to another country.

Also,it is a historically proven fact that being born in a country doesn't automatically give anyone the right to say who else can live there,or how they choose to live.

Yes,your example of racism is outrageous, and I can see from the reaction of a lot of people that they appear not to like racism..

A sensitive issue to be sure,and as Captain Sandy said,there is no way that some people will change their blinkered views.
I'm not trying to change them,,just trying to make sure that people have a more informed picture on which to make up their own minds.
Of course,there will always be a lot of people who are not interested in finding proper solutions to these difficult issues,it's so much easier to just tell someone to go away.Unfortunately,immigration is a world wide thing,people move to and from countries for all sorts of reasons,not always through choice.
It doesn't mean they have to leave behind their gods or their familiar customs.
As for any suggestion that they are all pimps or benefit scroungers..well...not even worth replying to those..peoples own words say more about themselves than they realise..

I remember reading the story you originally quoted to illustrate that British people are now in a minority (which it doesn't) and was also disgusted that this could happen. I can understand why the group was set up, but it was a misguided and idiotic decision to bar anyone from bringing their children. What the story shows is that some people in charge have no common sense, but little else.

yes Phattp,some of my friends have moved out to Ireland,Spain,France,Canada,Australia and Cyprus and i know some others are doing likewise,i myself will be retiring to to the Philippines with my wife who is a Filipina,for me it is partly financial and althrough this is not my only reason,crime, weather,politics,break down of general values in society are a few of my gripes,yes i will miss the NHS but this government by stealth are trying to bring it,s downfall rock on cameron clegg NOT NOT

2.5 million out of work and rising,not enough housing for the people already here,a nhs that,s struggling,a school system that,s struggling and of course we are not going to close any doors, come one come all,the goverment runs the country like the bankers ran their banks poorly,i could rant on but what,s the point,at least i know my house is in order and my finances are correct a pity these know it alls in office cannot get it right.

Yeo, m8, I was struck by your post... so if I read this correctly, you are fed up with "crime, weather, politics", and you were talking about the UK??? And then you say you are going to emigrate to the Phillipines? Strike 1, Strike 2, Strike 3, my friend! I love the Filipinos, I work around many, and while many don't have two nickels to rub together, they are genuinely warm and upbeat, exuding positive and overall, just a great group of people. But even they'll agree... in the Philippines, the government is absolutely corrupt, coupled with a exasperating crime problem... and oh yes, they get saddled with nasty annual typhoons... true enough, they do have some lush green areas, picturesque as can be...... but make no mistake about it... government corruption runs deep and the Filipino's in the mainstream suffer greatly as a result.

Jim,i know where your coming from when it comes to corrupton and i know there is crime but on many visits there i,ve never seen any crime other than on tv,here in the UK my wife has been mugged on three occasions and other family members and friends have experienced crime,it,s not the UK it,s self for me ilike the countryside the beach,s and alot of the people but what i cannot stand is the mugs that run things they have a idea and without having a good think about it they just rush in like a bull in a china shop and get it all wrong and who pays the working class,when i worked in a pub i saw all the pensioners who had little money they use to come into the pub buy a couple of drinks all afternoon because that,s all they could afford and in winter needed to keep warm,then they would go home and lock themselves in till the next day what a life not what i need and now there,s not allot of pubs either, yes it,s better here than many countries but as i,ve said before i honestly think it,s on a downward curve,i do hope for everyone in the UK that i,m proved wrong.

there are sum refugees moving in nxt door to me which i have no objection to but what gets me is that they wont move in till the council have sorted the house out ie decorating and carpeted.i also saw brand new washer and fridge and dryer going in all courtesy of the government.its not the ppls fault coz if i was offered house furniture car and all the other things ppl get i wud snatch their hands off if i was homeless,anybody wud take sumthin for free if offered.what gets me is if an english person was waitin for house they wud just get the keys and decor vouchers and be told to do their own decor.

when i got a council flat many years ago,i had to take as is,i was the one that had to decorate and furnish,why let people into the country that cannot support themselves?,ido not think the ausies do or am i wrong there?,can we just wake up in this country and get things right for the people already here,then give out charity that,s what gets most people in the UK why do we not sort out the mess of housing et6c etc and not just keep adding to the problem

this is unbelievable i rang council last 2wks ago cos i need new bedroom door frame and new door.guy came out knocked 4 nails into frame and sed it was dun and he wud go bk to office and sort sumone to come and do the door.i rang em today and they sed that the job was finished.i argued over phone and they sed they will send someone to look at it and i will be charged for the vist and the door.at 1st they wasnt goin to send anyone out till i sed that a refugee family was movin in nxt door but b4 they do they want the house sorted.they have had it all steam cleaned decor dun carpets god knows what else new fridge washer dryer and all i want is a fookin door.its a complete joke
