in todays world, i believe ( sorry!!) that with all the DNA forensics available etc, if it is found that someone has committed murder then i say they SHOULD get death penalty with no chance of having it cancelled!!!!!

LIFE FOR A LIFE WITH 100% PROOF SHOULD BE LEGIT WORLDWIDE......... AND I STILL SAY AS BEFORE, WHEN IN FOREIGN COUNTRY, ABIDE BY THEIR LAWS OR FACE CONCEQUENCES.

In certain countrys its ok to beat women abuse children. Yet this does not make it ok or that this is there fault for living in this country, i applaud what the goverment tried to do in saving this life and hope as a nation we will always try to protect are citizens wherever they are in the world.

dave, if it were my son, i wud, as i have stated, profess profusely that he was insane...i wud do ANYTHING to try and get him out, but at the end of the day, if my lad were big enuf to do that then he's big enuf to take the consequences...i dont think you have read what i said, or havent understood what i said...hopefully my opinion is, if this man had a mental problem, then the health system shud be severly penalised for letting this happen, and the court of human rights shud have been involved a LONG time ago.....if this man is a drug smuggler, then he shud be held accountable for his actions and punished in accordance with the country's laws...
why on God's earth wud i pay hard earned money to help a drug smuggler who tried to bring heroin into this country for some poor womans kids to take???

I do understand what you said and we are all hypocrites when it comes to our kids. I just know the people who are usually the ones caught for bringing these drugs in are not these super bad villains that are making vast sums of money importing drugs into countrys. Lets be honest if you were making millions of pounds through the drug trade, would you bring it in yourself.
It is some poor womans kid whoes been roped into it either through fear or manipulation these people are exsperts and scum of the earth but sadly the people that pay the price for their crime are also very often victims themselves.
If you could hear some of their storys how they got involved it might just make you think.
I do respect your oppinion Sal and know its a view held by many and i've seen the damage drugs can do, to not only the user but there family.

Dave, i was born, and grew up in Toxteth in liverpool, one of the worst areas for drugs and crime...some of my best friends from childhood are 'druglords', or barons, or idiots, whatever you wanna call them...and some are heroin addicts...i have seen this from both sides of the coin, and therefore dont need to think i know full well that the runners are small time wannabe gangsters, or, as in the case of the twins from my old street, innocent little girls...all i'm saying is that if the man did not have mental problems, then he obviously knew the risks, and if he knew the risks, then he cant complain when he gets caught

what EXACTLY do you applaud the government in doing?

do you applaud the fact that they tried to get a drug smuggler off with a sentence after being caught bang to rights? in which case how dare they use our taxes to do this...

ok i have read all valid comments on this thread. Think we sometimes for get everyone has a choice to make at sometime in there lives. We can blame the person , we can blame the government, we can blames our families and the life we have had. But it still comes down to each and everyone of us to be there for surport in anyway shape or form.
Its a shame that there are ruthless in this world that take advantage of anyone they can.
This man was one of them i feel for his loved ones.
but i can understand that we have to pay the price if we break the law.
Think we have also forgotten this was a grown man we are talking about.
There is no way his family could have stopped him.

GBI if you seriously think all drugs should be legal and that guns are OK you must have lost the plot mate. Don't forget, we are supposed to be the intelligent species on this planet!

If someone takes drugs they are an idiot, if they supply and encourage others to do it they are scum. If someone shoots them self yes they are an idiot, if they shoot another person they are scum (with the exception of genuine cases of self defense as a last resort).

I am addicted to cigarettes too, so yes I'm an idiot, but no matter what the circumstances were there is absolutely NO WAY I would even consider hurting anyone else to obtain some. You said in the circumstances you described you would use a gun on another person to get some.....!!!!!!!!!!! You were joking right?

As for the topic, yes there are lots of different things to consider but at the end of the day if you do the crime you do the time according to the laws of the country where it happened.
