i also hope that everyone is safe and sound, there is however a very salient point i would like to make on the subject of bushfires. they are frequent occurrences in certain parts of the world, notably australia and california, and they are also important ecological phenomena in those places, bringing about an increase of new growth and life in the areas they occur.

what beggars my belief is the arrogance or stupidity of people who choose to live in these areas, do they really believe that the power of nature cant or wont touch them, oh look at this place its beautiful lets live here, dont worry about the fact the whole place catches fire umpteen times a year and they'll might all die horribly or at best lose everything they own.
come on its not rocket science, dont build towns in bushfire central.

no offence taken thorno, and yes that is what im saying, if people weren't so stupid as to choose to live in extreme danger areas then they wouldnt be at risk and other people wouldnt have to put their lives at risk to rescue them.

it's easy for me not to get offended by what you say and by no means want to get in a petty argument with a friend but i just hope some of the Aussie ppl on this site are as forgiving as me, cos i would be really p***** if this was on my door step.

i think you might be misconstrueing what im trying to say thorno, or maybe i'm just being too brutal in the obviousness of it. human society is encroaching into areas it has no right to be, if you live right next to a tinderbox is it not obvious youre going to get burned, take another example, the encroachment into the florida wetlands, its not a human habitat, its alligator habitat, whose fault is it when someone gets eaten by a gator in their swimming pool, the gators or the daftie who built their swimming pool in gator central.

i just want to say living of the land is 1 of the most satisfying ways of life, and to have such great devistation happen its very upsetting to have so much loss of life but with all this sad news we are hearing remarkable survival storries, a family went 2 the creek when the fire hit still no good they managed 2 huddle in a wombat burrow. and survived.

***1. I don't care if you live in "fire alley" or not.....that smoke you saw in the distance 3 days ago, is a WILD BUSH FIRE sent by MOTHER NATURE to do one thing.....BURN THINGS IT DOES NOT NEED....you and your materiel things fall into the "DOES NOT NEED" catagory....maybe you did not have a full 3 days notice that the fire was coming, but you were not free and clear of danger 1 minute and in dire str8ts the next.....

***2. The majority of animals that die in wildfires.........could not get past the barbed-wire or electric fence......

***3. To whom it may concern and jackspades: People who are truly capable of living off THE LAND, DO NOT consider it THEIR LAND and are going to be OK because they can live off THE LAND.....last I checked, this planet was 34 percent land.

***4. I do not, in ANY way, want to take away from the tragedy of ANY LIVING CREATURE WHO LOSES THEIR LIFE DUE TO THESE BUSH FIRES IN ANY WAY......Let me just state that I sure am glad there are no players on this site who are from DARFUR or RWANDA.....because hundreds of CHILDREN over there are dying SENSELESS deaths every HOUR......

****5. Smoke inhalation.....what a horrible and senseless way to die...I don't even want to think about it......Better go take a ciggarrette break............

THINK PEOPLE..........................THINK!!!!!

Fair does, fair comment,if that is how YOU..Feel....But arnt you straying a bit from the original post....and i find you comment on the end rather sick...... smoke from fire is very diffrent from cigarette smoke,.........cigarettes,you chose to smoke, you go ahead and commit slow suicide..these people did not ask to die....also the fires, are being re_lit by sick idiot,s which make you wonder was it mother nature, find out the facts first.....but show some compassion please...

As delboy posted.......
just been watching the awful scenes of devastation
in australia.just hope all our aussie members are safe
and well.will keep you all in my prayers.tc

lets respect that please.....thankyou
