Gerrard is one of the greateast players of this era and if he committed the assualt i hope he will be treated as a person and not a star as they seem to be treated differently to the normal person

Where is your proof he assaulted anyone? He got arrested? He never got charged with anything! I am a "kid" and I see him as the best example setter along with Carragher there is. He has came from nothing along with Carragher, coming from rough parts of a rough city and they have made something of themselves. As I said read Carragher's book and that will give you a little taste of what it is like. How the hell do you expect a scouser, professional footballer or not to behave every day of every week of every year of his life? Lmao. Have you had a special report or something or have you just ehard the same thing everyone else has heard. Which is basically Gerrard has been arrested for assault. No real details. How can you make the assumption that Gerrard has let his club down? A scouser doesn't run away from a fight, he stays and stands his ground and for that Gerrard earns even more respect.

STEVEN GERRARD LIVERPOOL'S NUMBER 8 TRUE CAPTAIN AND TRUE SCOUSER

It's his prorogative f he wants to be out at 2:30 a.m. on a Saturday night knowing he doesn't have a game for a week and I doubt he will play next week now for two reasons though, one because he would be rested and two now as of last nights events, because of his arrest. Who can tell a 28 year old man when to go out or night with friends? Of course that's not the problem, it's the friends who he has actually been out with which are the problem.

As Blockie said he earnt respect as a footballer not as a person. I have had the pleasure of meeting Gerrard a fair few times and he is always willing to pose for a picture, sign some autographs and have a genuine 10 minute conversation with you about football, he is a nice, down to earth lad.

This incident has been blown out of all proportions yet again, he got arrested, not for actually comitting the assault but under the suspiscion, I doubt Steven Gerrard would be stupid enough to assault someone I just think it was one of the people he was with and Gerrrard just got caught up in it all. He is innocent until proven guilty and no one has proven he is guilty, wow he got arrested, big deal, a load of big shots have been arrested.

Read Jamie Carragher's book, that will give you an insight into the life of a footballer and how it doesn't actually differ too much to that of our own. He talks about druken nights on the town with players a lot of the time and how he himself has ran away from Japenese police after the World Club Championships, escaping arrest unlike Didi Hamann who spent the ngiht in the cells. He also goes as far as saying he almost got his friends to assault Lucas Neill at the Trafford Centre in Manchester because Neill made a horrific challenge on Carragher leaving him with a broken leg, only to call it off because David Thompson, a close friend of Carragher's was there with Neill, so the assault never went ahead. They're humans and they make mistakes and live to regret them, only their mistakes are taken and exagerrated by the likes of Sky and no doubt the newspapers tomorrow morning.

Don't judge Steven Gerrard on one incident, any sniff of trouble and the press will hound a player of Gerrard's calibre and that's exactly what's happened this time. If Gerrard is too blame I will be extremely dissapointed but he is only human and people make mistakes, just got to forgive and gorget, but I don't think Gerrrard is to blame and I think this whole ordeal will be finished with soon enough.

No matter what happens because of this I will forever respect Gerrard as the man who led us to the greatest comeback of all time in Istanbul and the man who single handedly won the F.A. Cup in 2006. I have infinite respect for this man he will be my hero for his exploits on the pitch not off it. My respect will only be tarnished if it was him or actually comitted the assault.
His life should be hard as he is role model for young players and kids - i know many of them for who gerrard is football god and they want too be like him. And he did mistake that can t be forgiven and i also don t belive he is innocent. He was with them why should he better person than them?

Yes but your assuming that Gerrard had any involvement in the incident because he was there. Ever thought of wrong place at the wrong time? It happens more often thsn you think, trouble with players but when a player is arrested, oh, and it's a player with the reputation Gerrard has, lets milk it for all it's worth and make Gerrard out to be a criminal. Don't forgive him then. But don't you remember our anthem, our trademark saying. You'll Never Walk Alone, if the fans don't stick by Gerrard then we would just be contradicting ourselves singing it before a game. I will not let my hero and our club's saviour walk alone. True fans will stick by Gerrard and true fans will forgive whether he was involved or not. Because without him they know we would be nothing. YNWA Steven Gerrard.

Plus aren't you forgetting that the actual England captain was arrested in 2002 for assault. Whatever actually happened last ngiht which no one really knows has happened. I hope Gerrard isn't to blame and hope he gets back doing what he does best soon. But people need to learn to forgive like Chelsea did with Terry. Surely are fans would be more forgiving towards Gerrard than Chelsea were to Terry...Danzi?

Was Dean Windass involved in a punch up wi sum1 not so long ago? tht never seemed to effect his career too much... He's like a big bully, yet he's the tiger's "hero" for putting them through to th premiership.

I think what Jeb says is right, although Gerrard could at least spare an apology or something to the D.J for his mates actions- even if it weren't him, as it may redeem his public figure a little bit. I dont think he oughtta stand up for himself too strongly, as at the end o the day he was there. He may have been able to stop it...but being a human, thought best to stay out the way and let his mates (if they were his mates) punch him up, which is understandable.

Then again, as u said m8, he is a scouse afta all, and all scouse's back each other up. Guilty or not, he'll get off th hook.

Its easy for you to say your not a scouser, its not the same. Gerrard hasn't been charged with anything so you can't assume anything. He's been arrested on SUSPICION of assault, not charged from what I've seen and heard. No police statements have been released regarding him being charged with anything although that will probably change, he will either be charged or released.
Don't speak to me like an ignoramus please. Give me some respect will you please(now I see why you got banned). I have my opnion on the matter, you have yours. Each to their own. Each have been brought up in different manners.
But being the person he is and I'm assuming being under the influence of alcohol I can see why Gerrard stood his ground and never ran away.
I have like I said before infinite respect for Gerrard, who I have respected for 10 years and I'm not going to let one poxy incident tarnish my respect for him, understand?
I am a kid therefore I can make a judgment unlike you. Despite this incident, Gerrard is still my hero I don't care whether he is charged or not. I don't care whether he gets thrown in jail for 2 or 3 months he will always have my respect as being the greatest player to ever play for Liverpool F.C.
Wrecked it all, don't you think your taking it a step TOO far? Wake up and smell the coffee, Gerrard will be back playing in a matter of weeks, end of.
Oh and your partner would actually know about the sort of scouse behaviour I'm talking about. He was pretty abusive towards me during your ban.

When I was just a little boy, I asked my father what would he be? Is he like Souness, or Sammy Lee, heres what he said to me...
Steeeeeeeeee Gerrard Gerrard, He can pass the ball 40 yards, he's big and he's friggin hard, Ste Gerrard Gerrard.
Steeeeeeeeee Gerrard Gerrard, He's better than Frank Lampard, he's scouse and he's friggin hard, Ste Gerrard Gerrard.
Y.N.W.A Stevie G

I am an Everton supporter, have seen the news about Stevie G, am an older person myself and I well remember when I walked to our Derby games in the 50s and 60s and for a while in the 70s, with Liverpool supporters who were my neighbours in my street, we respected each other, our teams were the greatest there ever was, since then of course Liverpool have far outstretched Everton in terms of achievements in the football world and they thoroughly deserve all the acclaim and plaudits any team should recieve, I have the fullest respect and admiration for LFC as any scouser, even as a blue EFC supporter... but I really do feel that Stevie G was in the "wrong place at the wrong time", having said that I also feel that Steven should have made a very quick exit from the trouble that erupted, he didnt and was arrested, he has not been charged with anything as yet and lets hope he isnt but the fact is he was arrested, this does not enhance his image to the great majority of young kids who see him as "ultra" clean, he is the Captain of his club team Liverpool, and a major force in his National Team, England, he should have been far more aware of potential problems that would arise wherever he happens to be...as an Everton Supporter I would never be so crass as to crow about SG`s arrest because he is Liverpool`s Captain, rather I feel very saddened and a little let down by the fact that a leading figure from my hometown, Liverpool, employed in a high profile profession, has become embroiled in a sordid "confrontation"...I sincerly hope SG isnt charged, the lad by nature isnt confrontational, but if he is charged then I feel sincerly sorry for his future image, the lad is an icon for so many fans in this country...so from a true Everton Fan to a true Liverpool Captain...be honest, own up and take the punishment if it is deserved and comes, but please SG, dont ever get caught in the same situation again, your too good for that kind of mess...Jacky
