Default Gone too far or protecting its citizens?

After the christmas day incident, the US has increased security checks on passengers from 7 "high risk" countries, 4 of which the US government classifies as being guilty of "state finded terror"

every single individual from these countries will be checked individually on entering the US.

Is the US right to protect its people, or are they infringing on others human rights?

Of course they have the right mate, after 9/11 any inconvinience to whom-ever is acceptable compare to what happened.
Bottom line.

And yes i know it COULD go too far affecting rights snd so on but WHATEVER can be done to stop these f*****g halfwit terrorists MUST be done.

Sorry, just my rant.

I wish the 'soft politically correct' British government would be as vigilant
I know I feel safer on the streets of New York at any time of the day or night than I do on the streets of London.......

what about that machine that scans people and shows you up naked on a screeen? believe its being trialed in manchester airport. is that a step to far?

i dont think anything is a step to far personally. if i get on a plane would like to have a save knowledge that everyone has been checked as thoroughly as possible.

The fact that these people can so easly come over here and bomb and kill our fellow countrymen alone (to me) gives us the right to do what ever we need to to protect the innocents from harm.

The fact of the matter is that ANY country has the right to enact laws... it's what makes the difference in a nation remaining sovereign versus falling under rule of the scam known as the United Nations, or any similar structure; with apologies to my friends who are subject to the EU, though there are differences, as each EU member State still maintains a modicum of sovereignty. If you venture from your homeland, you always need to remain mindful that you are a guest in the host country, and subject to host country laws. All this being said, as an American citizen, I only WISH my government took serious its duty to protect our borders. But this will stray quickly off-topic to the subject of handling illegals, versus the intended topic of border security (e.g., obtaining visas, etc.)

Luckily yhe country i live in has been a little protected from what has been happening overseas...it is a bit harder to get here and a long way to come....but i personally am all for anything that makes both travel and also my home land as safe as can be...if it means extra security checks and so forth then so be it...is a little inconvenience of your time better than having the possibility of losing your life?

I hate being made to take my boots off at the airport! having to do this is wayyy more embarrassing, and time consuming, than having to go thru a scanner, IMO

i reckon these scanners are way overdue, it is just a basic image, and if it protects me and mine when i'm getting on a plane then i'm all for it. The goverment has a duty to protect its people...the world needs more scanners

All these new and updated security measures are vital and reassuring to the people its protecting. I think another good point that jim made was "Border Control" countries under threat from terrorist attacks need to monitor its borders for the safety and security of the people living there. Steve.

Spot on mate, couldn't agree more. If they said you had to strip off at the airport I'd do it. What's a little (oh bad choice of word) embarrassment when people's lives are at stake. Mind you security would probably die laughing if they saw me starkers!!!!

By the way Irish, what do you think mate?

Thanks for asking Stevo m8.
Sadly I feel it is a neccisary evil, but an evil none the less.
It must be done because the rights and safety of the majority, outweigh the rights of the minority

grates on my left wing views though lol

I think the USA is right to protect its people from harm. Not that I am looking forward to this body scanning thing(creepy lol), but if it is gonna keep me and my fellow people safe from nut jobs then so be it and I am all for it. September 11 forever changed what we have to endure at airports these days but it is vital so that nothing like that ever ever ever happens again. God Bless the USA(love my country he he)
