You want hard players , Ron Harris, Norman Hunter (in fact most of his team mates Bremner, Reaney & Giles were no angels) ,Dave McKay , Stewart Pearce , Tommy Smith.. Possibly the hardest of all time though would be Goikoetxea ( The Butcher of Bilbao ).

i remember Goikoetxea taking out Maradona he was out for months

there are a few hard tacklers of the game here i dont think i can add to these.
they wouldn't get away with half in todays game.

Duncan Ferguson is hard, but whether you would put him in the same category as the likes of Pearce is another question.

If your talking about a fighting then Ferguson would be up there, I certainly wouldn't want to mess about with him.

If your talking about putting everything into a header or a tackle so long as you win it he wouldn't be classed as a hard man.

But some of you also talk about players who go into challenges just to harm another player such as Roy Keane, they're not hard men, they're little girls who couldn't injure someone off the pitch so they do it on the pitch like a fag
