Post Kiddies football

The new season started today for my 8 year old son .He's not the best ,not even in his team but he runs his socks off and trys his hardest in every game.Im very proud of the way he conducts himself and he always comes off smiling even when they get stuffed (7,0 today). Its a shame the same cant be said for a lot of the parents that turn up week in and week out up and down the country. They seem to think that little johnnie is going to be the next Wayne Roonie and if they dont play like a semi pro understanding all the tactics of the game and scoring at every opportunity(god help um if they miss)then they get abuse like you wouldn't believe. These kids with over the top parents are normally really good players but they rarely come off smiling even when they win as the pressure on them is too much. The slightest mistake and their dads and moms are screaming at them pointing out every minor slip up throughout the game.THeir heads drop and they finish thoroughly dejected. If your kids play in a football team or any other sport for that matter and this sounds like you....Remember ...they are still children and give um a chance they play the game because they enjoy it, it helps them make friends and gets them fit!Let them be children for a little bit longer Praise them for the things they get right and do well and dont shout um down for the things they get wrong.A win is great !A smile is better!!!

Same over here in aus, But mostly it is directed at the ref, I don't see how the refs can cope with it

hey blusmudge what can i say ive a son 11 and bit year old, he plays for a team hes not thegreatest like your son but the dreams and determination hes got to get as good as the other kids is unbeliveable i go out with him every sunday after the match and tell him his good and his bads about the game and the bad things i improve on with him i dont get angry when he cant do it, i tell him keep to going he'll get there. ........... ill tell you a story once upon a time there was three bears ....BORING i took him after the game to the field to work on his goods and bads and one the bad things was he couldnt volley it so i tought him how to do it i showed him he was useless in the end after about 4 hours of trying we gave up and went to macdonalds (not healthy but owell) and then the next match he played he scored a awsome volley from the half way line on a 3+1/4 size pitch it was truely awsome
after the match he said: dad that goal was for you and started cryin he was that happy. THE END

know the feeling been going to these matches for the past 11 years since my son was 5 and some of the parents i've come across were unbelievable it ranges from them screaming at their kids or the ref and a lot of them even abusing the parents of the other team
i think these people are disgusting at the end of the day all any of us really want is for our kids to have some fun and if they turn into good players then so be it but if not at least they have the memories of all the fun and laughs they had at their weekly football matches

That's the best thing I've heard all day. I think that's something every parent should live by.
