| it's one thing to upset a player and have him throw a football/basketball or kick a soccer ball into the crowd........IT IS A WHOLE 'NOTHER BALL OF WAX WHEN THE SPORT INVOLVES VERY SHARP AND POINTY DARTS!!!!!! P.S........throwing little darts at a cork board is not a sport...a sport involves athletes and there is nothing athletic about dart throwing....same goes for billiards, air hockey, foosball, and poker.....games of skill, yes......sports, no......also, driving fast cars in circles (NASCAR) and outsmarting animals when you have a gun in your hand (hunting) are NOT sports either!!!!!!!!! just to clear things up for anyone who might be confused............ .......peace........gbi........

| From Wikipedia...."Darts refers to a variety of related sports, in which darts are thrown at a circular target (dartboard) hung on a wall." "As well as being a professional competitive activity, darts is a traditional pub game, commonly played in the United Kingdom (the first country to officially recognise darts as a sport), across the Commonwealth, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Scandinavian countries, the United States, Canada and elsewhere." It IS a sport. |

| Sport From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search For other uses, see Sport (disambiguation). For a topical guide to this subject, see Outline of sports. Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Sports commonly refer to activities where the physical capabilities of the competitor are the sole or primary determinant of the outcome (winning or losing), but the term is also used to include activities such as mind sports (a common name for some card games and board games with little to no element of chance) and motor sports where mental acuity or equipment quality are major factors. Sport is commonly defined as an organized, competitive and skillful physical activity requiring commitment and fair play. Some view sports as differing from games based on the fact that there are usually higher levels of organization and profit (not always monetary) involved in sports. Accurate records are kept and updated for most sports at the highest levels, while failures and accomplishments are widely announced in sport news. The term sports is sometimes extended to encompass all competitive activities in which offense and defense are played, regardless of the level of physical activity. Both games of skill and motor sport exhibit many of the characteristics of physical sports, such as skill, sportsmanship, and at the highest levels, even professional sponsorship associated with physical sports. __________________________________________________ __________________________ ok daddysean.....I'll meet ya half way on the dart thing being a "mind" sport......but I STAND MY GROUND ON HUNTING!!!!!! one more thing daddysean....the UK recognizes it as a sport, big deal.....I mean, look at what you folks call "football" over there.........LMAO.........JUST KIDDING MY FRIEND........JUST KIDDING......

| Darts, Pool, and Football (or as americans call 'soccer') are sports tht are staged and competed in all over the world alike...the differences of physical, mental and tactical exchanges I feel are irrelevant, as a sport is ultimately defined as "an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively" It's good to know that some people are beginning to accept that "pub games" like darts and pool are in fact sports...at least of some type lol But aren't just about any sport derived from a handful of people in some club/pub somewhere? It is just financial backing that separates how far a sport is pushed. I'm an avid darts follower (it's on telly throughout the YEAR!) and i'm a very keen pool player, with county level opportunities at my doorstep. I find it a real shame when people discredit these sports for their true status, and mock them for "pub games"... as for how physically challenging they are, i've woken up some mornings with a sprained arm from throwing darts or/and shooting pool the day/night before. Chess doesnt give me such sprains, and i laughed at the the statement made by gbi tht chess and darts have the same physical movements lol I agree tht hunting is not (or should not be) a sport , and i'm only happy tht darts has at least been accepted as a mind sport on here...taking out repetitive strain injury and what is known as 'Dartitis' lolkwak |

| ok quackers...well put.....sounds fair....I must agree with you after hearing it put the way you did..........but not ALL pub games should be considered sports because I think that "midget tossing" is a horrible thing in all aspects....(and I apologize to everyone who even reads this post as I feel that the word "midget" is a derogatory word....you all SHOULD feel the same way about that word)
