last night of the proms

Just caught the end of the Last night of the Proms on BBC, FANTASTIC !!! ,I always consider my self ENGLISH rather than British but , I must admit , the last night ALWAYS brings a lump to my throat & a tear to my eye (my youngest look at me , wondering whats going on !!)Bloody silly ,I know , but very ,very proud to sit here with tears streaming down my face singing along to LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY & JERUSALEM ---FANTASTIC !!!!!(and slightly drunk)

The proms are a series of classical music concerts lasting two weeks (I think)at the Royal Albert Hall (London) ,not really my thing , but on the last night,all the music is unashamedly British patriotic , Rule Britannia, Land of Hope & Glory ,etc the audience is made up of loads of classical music buffs,and dozens of true British eccentrics all waving flags ,wearing dinner suits ,bow ties ,etc, they are called promenaders & actually raise tons of money for charity ,
I love the last night ,and definitely the booze helps !!
but still one night in the year when we Brits (prefer ENGLISH) are actually ALLOWED to show our flag and patriotism ,without some "politically correct" council worker making complaints about upsetting "visitors" to our country
