What is it about mobile phones that makes some people so ignorant and rude?

You can be in the middle of a conversation and the second their phone beeps, chirps, rings or whatever, they immediately have to answer it. No 'excuse me a second' or 'sorry I have to take this call as it's important'...no, they just instantly ignore you and respond to the phone! Why is the phone THE priority! It's as if no matter what they are doing or who they are with, their phone gets 100% of their attention within a split second of it making any noise of any kind.

And 99% of the time it's usually something trivial or something that if not trivial isn't urgent. I find it very irritating so what I do is wait until they have finished on the phone, then when they go to carry on with the conversaion I act as if we weren't having one in the first place. Then they get bothered by my reaction lol

And then you also have the opposite reponse. If their phone rings when no one is talking to them they take ages (by comparison) to answer it. Presumably this is for two reasons. Firstly to let anyone nearby know they have a call, so by default it's obviously important, therfore by association they are also important.

And secondly so that the rest of us can 'enjoy' the full volume club mix rendition of a giant bright purple singing CGI wombat, with yellow antennae which emmit sparks and lovehearts from their tips, who's electronically enhanced techno voice (with a stutter) proceeds to crucify a well known hip hop mega hit, which in reality was actually a minus 25 on a scale of 1 to 10 in musical terms despite it having gone double platinum in sales when released, because of its heart rending lyrics telling the tale of how tough life in the ghetto is for the poor down trodden home boy singing it barely able to stand up unaided under the weight of his bling so he has to support himself by leaning on his 2011 $2,000,000 pimped out Ferarri 599 GTO while his booty call mama sits inside.

Oh........I feel better now LOL

Anyone else get bugged by the way some people seem to be in love with their mobile?

yep. Sometimes I'll be at a friends' place and in deep conversation with someone and I'll look up to see everyone but the two of us on their iPhone's texting or playing games with each other. If you want to play Words With Friends just pull out the $@#!ing Scrabble board

unless you also complete a word going perpendicular that isn't on double word (but that wouldn't be 35 either b/c it's 17 points times two is 34 and no word can give just 1 point)

i am with Stevo, hate hate hate that! So ignorant and so rude! My two oldest granddaughters have phones and when they visit they at least turn them off. Now their Dad is another matter pffft!

Your right there Stevo, and i hate people pinging,texting, talking all day on blackberry's.. Totally unimportant stuff, and they go one for hours...

I wonder if they ever communicate fasce to face, and what is there to tell then..

How did any business take place before the invention of a mobile phone ? the worlds best and worst invention in one,best because if you are lost or in danger you have a lifeline in your hand, worst because all and sundry can get hold of you at anytime,not even the middle of the night is sacred to O2 and the like,i quite often get silly texts at stupid o'clock!!.The other thing that puzzles me, is that what do people that spend all day on the phone to their other half,talk about in the evening when they get home from work?.I have a guy who works for me and every 5 minutes he is either ringing his wife or she is ringing him,telling him that she just had a bit of lunch and a glas of wine, then phones 5 mins later to tell him that she is going to a different pub, it drives me .I've now had to ban him using his phone whilst at work as he gets nothing done !!! i've evn heard plonkers on the bus phoning home to tell them that are just getting off the bus and will be home in 2 minutes. i would put mobile phones in room 101 if it were not for the emergency aspect.but i would put in the people who use them just for the sake of it !!!!!

I wish one of my cells would ring sometimes at the moment, no matter what kind of ring-tone, music, stuttering i´d hear. i am sitting on my balcony in the middle of nowhere( Alabama,USA), 3 mobile phones around me( one is my own, one i got from my german boss, the 3rd one from my american boss)
BUT, lol, THEY DONT WORK HERE!!!! to call my family, i have to go either to work or downtown, lol....
