In general the old list was taken down because it was a huge amount of work to maintain it every month and there were very few who cared.

Those who were on it, didn't care because they were banned or fined.

Those few who used it, created new threads asking "why did so and so get banned, how long, etc" and that is none of their business. Sorry if that sounds harsh.

Those who have a network of friends, if they got banned, they always seemed to get in touch with their friends outside the forum, and they can always discuss it directly with the mods through our email system, which they are alerted to if / when a ban happens.

So, to put a fine point on it, if a ban happens it is between the site and the player. If someone has a direct question they are free to ask a mod in a PM, but we will not discuss someone else account with anyone but the owner.

everything you have said makes sense to a point. but all i will add if someone is banned i doubt that person will care if the reason is made public

The original reason was that there were chip limits on the learning tables and one of the original mods thought it was a good idea to publicly name those who broke the rules as a way to discourage others. This did not work out to be the case.

The list grew from that to include forum bans and other infractions. It grew beyond its usefulness.

i seeee tex, maybe u setup something where we can pm a mob about a certain player too see how long there banned for as some of us may need to know im sure others would agree it would be a good game

You are always welcome to PM a mod, on any issue. If there is a real need, on a one on one basis, I am sure we can get a message with your contact info to the player in question so they can contact you to discuss it. In the rare occasion where it is a family member, or the member needs to contact us but can not through any other method, we have been flexible.

the length of the ban may be a good idea, just to let others know if they are coming back or not, but i dont agree with stating why a person was banned, a big red 'CRIMINAL' across their page would suffice

i dont agree tex, i think mods should be able to tell us how long someone is banned for if we want to know why then we have to find out of them ourselves. see where im coming from tex?

Sorry Street, I am missing something. Why does it matter how long? What if the ban ends and they never come back. How will knowing the length of the ban be of any benefit to anyone other than the player directly involved?

Sorry I just don't see if from my end. Can you give me an example of how this would be relevant, either in the forum or in Private Message?

say abc my best forum buddy was banned for swearing and i dont no that i log in and i see hes banned id want to know how long for as hes been a good mate and maybe i could speak to him when he gets back

Fair enough, PM a mod and we can try to connect you after we get permission from the player to do so, or permission to share that information. Not an issue.

Given the communication methods and the reasons that a ban usually happen, I would say that is not really possible.

If it is a self ban, then yes, it can be done. But otherwise, we would have to handle it one at a time.

maybe there could be a option when they are banned like a tickey yes/no question underneath the message saying there banned and they tick yes or no then ok then you can see if they want it shareing or not
