i remember the day that elvis died so well ,i was a lad of 20 on holiday in caister yarmouth,and the whole camp was in a state of shock for days.
is there a moment in time that you remember where and what you was doing?ie moon landing or simalar

serious tho i remember princess di passing, early days of the lottery, got up put teletext on to check numbers etc and was stunned at what was on the screen, the world seemed to stand still, nobody on the streets, tv and radio quiet, a very strange and of course sad day indeed..

The day Princess Di died i was at my sisters having coffee.... I cried my eyes out....she was a beautiful woman.

Day Elvis died i was on my way to airport....crap first few days of holiday thereafter!

When Diana died i was in garden hanging washing out, and i told my neighbour 'a few choice words' when he called over fence to tell me.....i was stunned, it was so so sad, and a conspiracy!!!!!
I went to a friends the day of funeral and we sat there watching from start to finish crying!

dont remember as i wasnt born yet, the day JFK was shot my pop died.When Diana died was in botanical gardens smelling the roses when we heard the news of her passing.

I am not old enuff to remember. But im from Tupelo so ive heard countless others recount their memories of Elvis's death.Not to mention countless stories about going to school with him our other encounters before and after he became famous. Alot of older people in my area actually knew Elvis and his family. Until recently Elvis's cousin was our local Sheriff. In the history of the city of Tupelo the 2 most traumatic days where the 1936 tornado that took out mainstreet and the day Elvis died. Hes king of rockandroll to us aswell but hes also our native son.

I remember when Elvis died...I was in the 4th grade...My teacher was a huge fan of Elvis, and she grieved for him as if he was family.

9/11...I will never forget that mornin'...I was lyin' in my bed watchin' the mornin' news on Fox...(one of our news channels here in the USA) I watched as those planes hit the towers...thinkin' it was some movie clip...But I was actually watchin' all that unfold right before my eyes. When I realized that the news station hadn't got segments messed up, it was the most scared I've ever been in my life. It was all so confusin' and I didn't understand what was happenin'...I called my daddy at work told him to go home and watch the news, so he could tell me, we was gonna be alright...I went got my son from school, and stayed glued to the tv for several days. I immediately started recording all of it. I still have those video's.
That day will be forever engraved in my mind, forever!

18 Feb 2001 i was at my best buds house watching the final lap of the Daytona 500. when all of a sudden an American racing Icon, Dale Earnhardt Sr. left this world. he was my hero and i mourned for three yrs. couldnt watch a single race. it left a huge empty spot, that wont ever fill. R.I.P (as peaceful as 8 cylinders can be)

agreed Belle that was a rough 1. 29 minutes after the first plane hit there was a knock on the door.. 1 State Trooper and 2 military liasons shoved orders at me while the wife went hysterical. i told them i was retired and they told me " not anymore". trying times followed.
