Default subcommittee

just an idea would like to put to all and invite responses.
in light of recent events on forum would like your ideas on forming a subcommittee once a month where a meeting of mods and the committee would discus infractions on the forum and other concerns like late table appearances or concerns of players.
this is not to undermind the mods work but to put the members concerns in a debate out of the forums.
the committe could change monthly to give players a chance to be involved in all things op66 and in my opinion take away the mods vs player situation that sometimes occurs.im not looking for voting powers just a chance to express ideas to improve the site, i know we can pm a mod with a problem and get advice but some times an open discussion might bring in new ideas.

While I like the idea in theory it could never work in practise. Your opinion my vary wildly from someone elses.

Lava owns and runs the site and welcomes ideas and implements those that he thinks will work.

The mods know a lot more than we do about what someone has done and take their jobs seriously it often taking more than one infraction before any action is taken to ban a player.

People need to remember mods are players too and there should be no mod v players situations arising. If people stick to the TOS then these situations would not arise.

Anyone seen the old film " Twelve angry men" about the hung jury taking days to come to a decision, I think we would have a remake here.

I compliment you on trying to come up with an idea that might help Tel, however it could become a case of the lunatics running the asylum maybe LOL

you could be right stevo, but im sure as you know there are lots of unanswered threads on forum, and different time zones dont help some but subcommittees from different zones could look for answers to these questions

I definitely agree with you there tel, as there are a lot of questions which members could and do answer for newer players thus freeing up the mods time for more compex issues.

Tel,

I agree with you. This has been attempted in the past without long term success. We tried Forum Mods only, people who could only moderate the forum and address issues. We tried it regionally and at one time had global coverage. This was during a time when the forum was growing exponentially. Over time, those people left, for whatever reason.

Perhaps there is a way to do this, as Lava has always been open to listening to the suggestions and implementing what makes sense and was possible.

There is a suggestions thread, but that does not get used much and has de-volved into complaints at times. What about setting up a Group for this where anyone could chime in?

I am open to discussion.

The forums are the place for this to happen I believe, discussions, ideas and suggestions can be posted here and discussed by the op community as a whole. Of course infractions/bans will not be discussed here as I would think most people would appreciate their privacy, as a matter of curtesy and respect.

You can rest assured that any ideas and suggestions that hold merit are forwarded to the relevant person, usually Lava, of course not all get a personal reply... his time is limited, but he reads them, results may not always be instant, evident or may not even happen at all, some things are just not easy or practical to introduce.

There is also the security of the site to consider when things need to be discussed..its not always practical to explain a decision for those reasons.

The only versing we do here is done on the tables we are all members of op66.
