Default Table behaviour

Maybe no-one is interested but I feel the need to mention this. (sorry if posted in wrong area)

My aim is just to remind people what I think is not really the done thing on tournament tables. You may have a different opinion but not looking for crazy arguments.

In an OP tournament today, and there is no need to mention names, one player typed "LOL" in the chat box after knocking out another player in an all-in HU. Now the player who got knocked out is well known and respected as being a good guy and a good player. I do not know if this player is aware of this specific incident.

I just feel with the amount of new players joining, we should try to stamp out any inappropriate behaviour. OK you may not think it is a big deal but I just felt the need to mention it here.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Also last week, what I believe is a new member, told the table what he folded before the hand was over. A couple of other players on the table quickly pointed out this was not how to do things, but they were very polite about it, thanks.

Maybe it would be a good time to produce a "do's" and "dont's" on table behaviour?

Ok, thats too much for me, it will be best that all chat is blocked
on our site, and if you wanna talk you can on forum, or on live chat.
Sorry, daddysean, nothing personal, but for exmple what pro poker player
do when he kick someone out from tourney, yeap big LOL.
Wasnt there, but maybe its Helmut, who knows.

But, real reason for i made reply is not block chat on tables, i wanna
get full freedom for chat on tables.
For now, i cant see what other players write on chat, and if i wanna chat
with them i cant.
So, because of few ppl who cant block chat on player, my freedom for knowing ppl , chat with them are impossible, why?

P.S. If y wanna call me donk, monkey.... on table pls do, y will get nice answer.
Soory for using your thread daddysean i will made new thread about chat.

I am a little confused Joya. I am not asking for chat to be banned. Do you want insults and abuse across OP tournament tables?
Maybe I just misread your post?

OK I'm with you now. I am all for freedom of speech but not for disrespecting fellow players. The incident did not relate to any swearing, I just thought the behaviour was unsporting and immature.

I just wanted to add if lol, is the worst thing being said we are doing great. I know in a lot of my cases I maybe be slow at replying to someone that has said something to me, and guess at times it may seem like I'm saying something that doesn't apply as to whats happening on the table. With all due respect Sean, this is a bit ridiculous. Sorry, but this is poker. I wouldn't be offended if someone was glad to knock me out of the game. Trust me I don't have the thickest skin. But will say there are still some real mean ppl. that i've came across on the ring tables. I love to chat to ppl., but ignore the rude ones.

Ok...getting off my soap box.

Hey sean m8, Im guilty of doing the same thing but in a different way, actually the lol is aimed at how good and how suprised i am at my own hand. Its not meant to be a gesture of unsporting conduct or to belittle a player, its just a reaction to my amazement but its always followed by a goodwill gesture. steve.

OK well its ridiculous SC. No problem. Maybe we have different expectations?

Hi Slick. I understand what you say but this was not a case of just one word of chat, there were a few things said before the other thing happened.

Hi Reaps, no wasn't you or your son. I am not trying to make a witch hunt of one person.

Earp I hear what you say and believe me I spoke to the other person before posting the thread to see if this was friendly banter and he didnt even know the person.

Please do not think this post is about one incident only, I even used 2 examples in my first post. My aim was to mention that people should be reminded what WE as the OP family, accept on tables. We cannot control bingo tables and must accept any language or abuse aimed at us.

Well I feel as though there is not much interest so will drop it now.

Is it possible that the hand played and won was a lesser hand..and that the LOL was because of player surprise...at the end of tourney you do not get a lot of time to type much before the table is closed...so maybe give them the benefit of the doubt.

I get where your coming from sean and in principal I agree. The problem though is who decides what is and isn't acceptable in table chat? I'm sure we all have differing views on that point. I and a few others will quite often call another player 'git'. It's taken in the way it's meant, as a bit of fun, but I'm sure some might be offended by it.

As Earp said, I have also had exchanges with certain other players which have been said in fun, but to anyone else reading it may have seemed like we were enemies. (oh except Nowichrich, I mean every word mate LOL)

I think your right to raise the question but I can't say I know what the answer is, or how any guidelines could be effectively policed. The amount of what appears to have been real abuse that I've seen has been very very minimal. To the point that it's almost not worth mentioning if you know what I mean.

Although there are sometimes some entertaining ones, like the ones who appear and declare they are going to pulverise us into the ground with thier legendary poker skills.....LOL I love them ones.

Good thread mate, thought provoking threads are never a bad thing.
