Lightbulb Traffic boost : Digg the site & read about new icons!

Hi,

you've certainly seen the new icons leading to Digg and Facebook on all threads : Those are here to boost each thread visibility outside our forum!

Facebook : Easy system, I'm sure many of you got one, that link is just here to share the thread with Facebook community (your friends list). For the ones who don't know the system and love our profiles pages : Facebook is a social network where you will do quite the same than on our profiles pages.

Digg.com : This is the interesting add for the site! Many sites offer tons of social bookmarking links but in my opinion a forum won't match many of those : Digg.com is the best one for news and text stories as we have here. Register to Digg to start boosting your threads and help the forum life

What's a social bookmarking site? It's simply a site where surfers are sharing their experiences and internet favorites sites. You have your "favorites" in your browser, now those sites will allow you to share the best ones with others AND vote for or against listed ones which will grant visibility to the best ranked and fresh content pages.

So here is the point for the forum and the "game" behind : We lack interesting discussions on forum and controversal stories about poker or other domains... Those are the kind of threads which could have a good ranking on "Digg"! The system is easy, you need to register for free (just an email needed) and start voting (digging) for the threads here : Create an interesting thread, click on the digg small icon in it, add it with a good title catch and description, then ask for others to digg it... When it will have a few digg from here (10-20 or more needed) others surfers from Digg.com will see it and digg it too : Congrats, you've created a "buzz" for your thread!
It will help the forum life, boost your thread visibility and forward some new surfers here.

Here is a first try : http://www.onlinepoker66.com/forum/g...ur-health.html
Join digg & Digg for the thread
If I see that new system is helping the forums content and working well we'll issue prizes for best Buzz!

Important point : The idea isn't to submit tons of links to Digg but to submit quality ones and trigger votes there (from forum members at first and then from Digg community), so please don't spam!

Trick and tips for Digg.com :
1) The title of your entry on Digg is important (it will list the thread title when you click the icon but you can change it) : Surfers from Digg won't click on "Bug on british crown tournament" but on "Britney spears and poker!" or "Mac VS Windows : The end of the fight!" (No fake title, you can't lie and must name your source in your thread if you're using data from elsewhere)
2) Add friends on Digg and use shouting to inform them about your new adds (no abuse) : Our forums members will help but Digg's surfers will need to click too afterward!

Sorry for the big story, if no one care about that new system I'll find something else don't worry

'Lava

Wont this go against the advertising of other sites rule? And whilst I may be happy to contribute to discussions on here I dont necesarily want them spread all over facebook etc.

Plus what about all of the hacking of the facebook site does this not mean more security risks for Onlinepoker66 and more spamming possibilities

I don't understand your concern about advertizing of other sites rule... it's about having links on other sites, not putting links here

I see what you mean about Facebook : I don't really like the system neither but I know many do.
If Facebook has experienced hacking stories in the past it's the same for all huge sites, I don't think that's such a big issue but I haven't checked recent news and if you have any additional information feel free to post it offcourse, thanks for that.

Anyway it's more about Digg than Facebook, my main focus is on Digg here

Ok, no one seems to care about the new buttons
I understand it looks messy and strange hehe

Tomorrow to show the system we'll create another fun thread with some money released after x posts (if you're "digging" too), don't know when exactly but certainly around the end of afternoon UK time (so it could match early US and late Aussies too )

Good night or day, I'm off for now

Reason for downtime posted here, Have you had any problems with the forum in the last couple of hours?

Hmm.. Well if this is gonna bring more ppl to this site, that wud explain yesterday! There was so many online users which led to the server sayin it was busy all the time and i struggled to get on as it said server busy every 5mins or so.. If this is gonna entice more member, can the server on be made bigger.. (If thats possible ) or we gonna have to make do with the server bein busy all the time?

Jus seen NTM's posts sayin the same thing i jus said about the server, sorry.. I'll read other posts properly next time b4 i post lol

Those last changes won't forward directly surfers here, it's a long term system

As Ausangel stated : http://www.onlinepoker66.com/forum/t...ld-ok-now.html please read here if you want info about yesterdasy lag, I have installed other plugins and cleaned up database, that was server intensive but now should be fine

Just for info : Due to high server load I've disabled a few features on site, we'll launch that special thread on monday or so.
Googlebot is one of the reason of the slowness on forum, should be fine soon (I could easely say to google to go away but that's not a really good idea as the goal is to grab more search engine traffic, not to be banned there )
