On the tables there is a place for it. But on the forum I think you should speak properly.

I voted yes, I myself do sometimes use text talk but it is annoying especially when I am trying to read some of your posts and I genuinely can't read some of them. Lol.

Like some stated on the tables it is okay because it's understandable, but on the forum there really isn't a need for it because not everyone understands it. I mean we have players on here who English is their second language and it might be hard for them, and then they see text speak and they might not understand it. Also not everyone on here is young as other players, and they might not understand text speak either. I voted yes because of this.

as a student and aficionado of the english language (watch how many typos i have, now, lol), i am most definately opposed to "txtspk". yes, possibly it has its place, which would be logicaly indicated by its name, "TEXT"...but to confuse it with ANY acceptable form of public and/or professional communication would be a VERY SERIOUS MISTAKE. ( I also speak here as an employer ..) Even in my short life, I have bourne witness to what can only be described, at best, as the erosion of not only the written word as commmunication AND art, but also the decay of the language itself. In my opinion, as the language erodes, logically, so then does the ability of the mind to express itself adequately, leading eventually to the inability to even CREATE higher thoughts, visions and patterns~ in essence, we nullify our own intelligence by not pushing ourselves, not exercising, USING OUR BRAINS to implement and deploy the correct and exact WORD to express the details of our thoughts.
THIS is what language is for, how to use it, .. not just the simplest, easiest way to convey some generalized amorphous concept (ie: 'gg' here) . We need to THINK about every word we choose in our communications, and DECIDE on the exact one. For instance: it is very common, at least here in the states, socially and professionally to use a standard reply to one saying, "thank you"...

how many of you thought, "no problem?"....
YOU'RE DEAD WRONG if you did. What problem is ever mentioned when someone says thank you? They are THANKING you, not APOLOGIZING. Suggesting that there WAS a problem by saying this is an INSULT to gentility and the language. THINK about it.
The correct response , of course, is "You're very welcome". nothing else. I know this sounds like a lecture on manners, and in a way it is, but I'm using it to illustrate the point. This tiny part of the language has disappeared and hardly anyone has noticed... and look at how the true meaning has been lost to us. This phenomenon is occurring every day, in wee little chips, slowly picking away at our language and our minds as a collective of humanity.
I believe that txtspeak is just one of those steps.

i'll shut up now, thank you for listening.

I dont like it on the forum at all ... on the tables a little of it is ok , Dont most people speak that way in txt so its a shorter message so your not having to send 2 messages ???...which costs more ? Or am i wrong .
Here it costs nothing to have your opinion and say what you need to say .
So to me save your txt talk for txt xxx

ps: please undertand that I did not write as a personal attack on anyone here. it's just, as i'm sure you can tell, it is an issue dear to me, studied and countless hours of thought invested. the question posed and the issues therein "triggered" me.
again, no harm meant towards any here, just trying to make a point.
pps: I welcome and encourage the debate on this issue...
BRING IT!!!

This coming from a guy who wants to stick his hand in a hole in a river to catch a fish by having the fish bite his arm before he dies, okay. Laughing my *** off, just joking MRCOOL

Personally i can' stand text speak, it's just lazy if you ask me.

I wonder how many children at exam age, write there exams in text speak and wonder why they get low marks.

Like a couple people have said in there posts, to alot of people English is not there first language and as someone who speaks English and struggles to understand text speak sometimes, how are people with a basic grasp of the English language gona understand it.
