Hi Leigh,
my recommendation would be to buy a VW or an Audi
I own a fabulous Audi A4...case of 'love me love my car' lol
prior to this, i always had VW's, just a wee thought...

Good Luck with any purchase you make

take care
as always
1ou1ou

P.S A diesel would be better, my husband was travelling from Blackpool to Stoke/On/Trent in my wee VW Polo and it cost £90 per week ...now he has a Saab 900 and it costs £160 per week.. so economy does matter

hi 1ou1ou
I havent seen you in ages on the tables!

I was looking into VW a while ago, was interested in a vw golf, but costs too much insurance, and they dont do any other models that interest me!

But Audi lmao I completely forgot about!!
the A4 was one of those cars I always liked the look of. I think I will look into the A4 a bit! see what info I can dig up! (specs, mpg etc...)

Thanks for your advice 1ou1ou

I am sort of looking into diesel engines now and again! gr8 mpg, but they tend to be noisy a bit slower etc.. (god Im picky!)

thanks for the post 1ou1ou, gave me a few more thoughts to bite through!

LOL! yea Focus's are really comfy cars! I dont think they are quite as quick off the mark as an astra! (but that can be dependant on the driver) gr8 cars, focus's!

LOL If I have I royal flush, I would probs consider it!
but I gotta decide what to get first
lol

thanks for all your replies

Hi Leigh,
one thought on any car.. take into account engine size..if you are travelling from the East coast to Manchester you need at least a 1.6 engine which can give you the power for hills and long term speed,
however, buying a car for instant speed is a very iffy thing..it can get you into trouble ..'my cars better than yours' scenario

But i will say 'its not what you've got its how you use it', and that applies to everything but a motorbike
I've driven lots and lots of cars (Ford/Mazda/Volvo/Bmw/etc over the years, but for sheer reliability and cost effectiveness, it always comes back to VW and Audi for me

My Audi (which i bought just 4 months ago £1350, plus tax, full tank of petrol and 6 months warranty) is a 1.6 engine, but its a big car..so it's hauling weight (i did get over 100k on the mway and did'nt realise)
My ambition is to own a Chrysler PT Cruiser with skirts..in Black..i've got the Trilby i just need the gun and i'm off...lol
Its hard to check everything out, i'm sure you want to buzz about, but just take care, i'm sure you'll have help in choosing

look after yourself
as always
1ou1ou

P.S Don't forget to barter lol

Yep I live in Norfolk norwich!
so thats a real long treck, and thats one of the reasons why I thought of an astra 1.6
rather than the 1.4 etc..

Yea, I know what you mean. a few of my m8's have had bad accidents due to that immature behaviour! thats one thing which I dont want!

That's really interesting that you prefered the Audi's and VW's over the rest! what do you specially like about them?

LOL naughty naughty
What year is the Audi?? because that sounds like a really really good price!

LOLOL my dad was thinking bout getting one of those pt cruisers about 3 years ago! but you dont really see them about these days! I think he test drove one but didnt get on with it! trilbys are good LMAO. make sure its a machine gun cant be a gangster without a solid black trilby and machinegun LMAO!

Well Im trying to learn loads of stuff on cars atm! and ive sort of know how to find future problems with the clutch and gears! but thats about it atm, Im sorta needing to know more. but as I will be spending about 2k I will get one of theose RAC ppl in to give it a full check over! plus of course, Get a few hundred off if pos

Thanks for all your advice 1ou1ou
Ill let you know what I end up getting

You and Graham look a very Elegant looking couple on your avatar there 1ou1ou

Once again thanks for your advice!

Hi Honey,
Graham and i were at his friends wedding so .....full bib/n tucker

What got me hooked on VW and Audi....is that they keep on going..unless it's something of worth, that is wrong.
Vauxhall have glichy 2nd gears, most Astra's have ''really been ragged'' so be careful with them..coz whatever u want to do..it's been done b4 you, and watch the miles
It' roughly 10/15k per year..my Audi is a P reg with 117k on the clock..but here's the thing VW and Audi can take it..
Ford i wouldn't look at, as i think they are common (and my hubby had the one James Bond drove)...but it's still a Ford..reaching for class
Mazda is great but pricey on the parts, but i secretly love Mazda lol
Have you looked at Autotrader website...just tap in your car and if it's there they can find it..also you can type in the price too..just to see if it's priced as it should be.....
Best of luck
as always
1ou1ou

P.S My heart talkin says: I will own a ''Morgan'' in this lifetime ..

Oooo!
That bad eh?!
would a 98 - 99 year model, probs last longer then 5 - 7 years with just minor repairs? or does it end up costing the bang? such as head casket, clutch, gearbox etc.....?
Im glad I posted here! I may save quite a bit of money thanks to everyones help here!!

Ah Well you both look very smart and posh

Yea! Ive heard alot about Astra Porblems now! So I may go for the Audi route! Im gonna have to look up alot on this though
The A4 has always been a car that I liked. but I will look at as many models as i can!

Yea! its somewhat a coincidance I see alot of 100k - 150k milage on the astra's for sale So i can now see why! (they are on theyre way out!)

lol! too common eh?!
Yea, I was interested in an escort! but then i do want something thats gonna start in the rain! and when its most needed!

I love all Japanese made cars!!! just that they all seem really pricey! but then you get what you pay for I guess!

Yep! thats what Ive been using to get a good idea on what price for what year, make and model of car. gr8 site!

LOL! youll have to wear your formal wear more often

thanks for all the help 1ou1ou! I really really appreciate it
I ask my dad for all his advice! but he doesnt know much! he's been ripped off loads with second hand cars! so now he only buys new. then sells them when theyre fairly young!
But audi the Way to go!!

How about Honda Accords???
or Citroen xsara?? hatchback?

anyone know anything about these??
