Default all in with 73 suited...

sorry, gotta get this off my chest. just been in british crown, doin quite nicely. get dealt AA. bb`s @ 200, raise to 500. guy raises all in to 780 (ish), i call, guy hits a straight with 73 suited. i`ve got nothin against this guy, we have played many times before, and fair play to him if he likes to play like that. but i`m sure he can understand my frustration.

Well you know. There's no need to be frustrated. We all know that AA doesn't always win. Kudos to that guy who went all in and took those As hostage and kept the ransom.

Absolutely a bad beat but hey, it's the beauty of poker, any combination of cards can win.

Personally it kills me to have to fold a pair of As or Ks therefore, I sometimes go down with the ship. It's the only honorable thing to do. I mean, when we have been dealt a pair of A's... We all know we look for the bloke who dares to go all in... We're wishing and waiting...

Let's just say, he answered your call and went all in. We all do it.

I have AA, I dare anyone to go all in... They go all in and I get smacked and feel the shame of having others witness the crushing defeat. LOL,

But hey, that's poker...

I love this game...

this section is aptly named "victories and bad beats stories" i think that my story quallifies as a bad beat. pre flop, 73 suited=18%, AA=72% chance of winning...

Unlucky this time but I think your odds say it all. You'll win 4 hands out of 5 gaining you around 3k+ in chips for the 780 you lost this time. Meanwhile this guys off bleeding chips to everyone else on the site. Hope I meet them sometime. lol.

you`re missing the whule point about a bad beat brad. i lose with AA all the time against other pockets/connectors suited or unsuited/Ax etc..etc.. which is fine. i posted this thread because i made a big raise and was reraised by a good player who had crap.

Maybe they were trying to bluff you off the hand and steal a few chips. Its possible they had a read on you and expected you to fold a weaker hand, something like KQ suited. You called, as you would with AA, they are suddenly thinking 'damn, I didn't get that bluff through', then the rest is history.

Who knows, just trying to look at it from the other players perspective, especially as you say it was a good player.

Also, with only 4x the big blind left, they have to make a move sometime, maybe they figured a straight heads up was as good a chance as they were going to get.
