| Last night played in a game in my local - i would love to know your thoughts on what you would have done in this situation. £10.00 entrance fee 12 players Pay out = 1st £70.00, 2nd £40.00, 3rd £10.00. 10,000 chips each Blinds start at 100/200 and go up every 10 minutes 6 Players at my table Second hand dealt im small blind and get dealt KQ of diamonds UTG - call 200 Position 2 - Call 200 Position 3 - Call 200 Position 4 - fold Me small blind - raise to 800 BB - fold UTG - fold Position 2 - call Position 3 - fold. Flop - 10 Clubs, Jack spades, 4 Diamonds Im first to act with an open ended straight, a back door flush and two high cards in my hand I check Position 2 - all-in (a player that i knew by showing weakness with him last to act would probably make a big move) Im now in a situation that if a call i have a reasonble chance of hitting something - What do i do? I called and cards were turned - he had 9 j - hes ahead having hit jack. I now know that a queen, a king, a 9, an ace, or two diamonds would do me with two cards to come. I missed totally and was out - My question is Would you have called or would you have folded

| Thats a Tricky but I probably would have folded as it's early on and got him later. I would have possibly called if there was another diamond on the board. But I don't know the players like so it couldhave gone either way if I had known he gowes in alot just for the steal. However in saying that I'm biased because I already know you have lost that hand.

| Maybe if you had followed your initial raise with an all in yourself (if you were expecting a big move), representing you had over cards, top pair or better...but I would have done as Tb1rd says fold and wait till later

| Lol - i think some of you guys must play in the same local as me when i hear some of the reactions you get when out drawing an all inner. I just laugh it off and say "whos got the chips" Tictalk - if a lowstacker goes all in and i have an ace in my hand, then im going up against him if as you said you would still be left with chips. Lets face it surely going all in he would want one caller to go against his 4s - you hit, he didnt tough sh*t to him. I went all in low stacked last week and got two callers, one of which was a player with a decent stack and the other chip leader. The cards are turned - im holding JJ, medium stacker AQ - top stack 7 2. I dont think i need to say more - you can guess what won - flop 7 5 k Turn 3 river 2 - So Big stack hits two pair me and medium stack out of the game. I didnt rant - i just went outside for a fag - apparently other players at the table had a go, but i just think 99 x out of 100 i will beat that playr

| I think you played it the right way Grove. I'd like to think I would have made the same play, but to be honest I think I probably would have folded. A. because I wouldn't have had the nerve to do it, and B. because it was only the 2nd hand. Having said that, that's probably a good reason to make the play cos it would give you a good stack at the start of the game. All in all I reckon you played it right but I am a bit suprised he went all in on a JJ, I wouldn't have. If I were him I think I would have bet 200 to see if you called or raised. If you then raised wether I called you or folded would have depended on the size of your raise. How would you have played it if you were him? |

| If i were him having hit middle pair and i having checked i think i would have made a small bet to see where i was at (maybe chuck a 1000 at it) if it gets called i would be slightly nervous of the overcard on the board and the initial raise. If i could get away with it i would then have checked the hand down. Some people will say that his intital bet was to stop me fishing but i would say that was a daft move when he has only hit middle pair. My big mistake was checking when first to act - it showed weakness and allowed him to make a powerful move - although i have this in mind for next time and i could set a big trap
