I congratulate a player on winning (nh, n1, wp, etc) only if I participated in the hand.

I was told to keep quiet when not in a hand because it might be mistaken for rooting for one player against another.

the person who told you that needs to get their head straightened. It's called 'decency', complimenting a hand or play is good poker etiquette, and should be encouraged.

Poker brings us together, be it the sense of competition or the gamble etc.. And we shouldn't feel like it's a problem if we complement fellow players for their play. However, I completely disagree with the "you should show you hand" theory. It's a personal choice to "show" or to "muck".. It's all a part of the game.

Cheers, and great topic.

May all you hands be a royal flush...Except against me.

Just as I would in face to face play, sometimes I show, sometimes I don't. It is all a part of the strategy, with the exception of when I am playing at the lower tables, I will show all hands as a learning tool for the beginners. The sad part is, I play the lower tables far too often because all the experienced players spend all their time in the forums instead of the higher sit n gos. Why don't you go outside and play or something. Go on, get out of here. Go play some poker! And wipe your feet before you come back in here. Geez, sometimes I feel like a babysitter around here.

win ,lose or draw its how you play the game
In the professional games players dont have to show their cards but can if they want to maybe we could have the option and just remember if you want to know you can always ask

Nice to hear these different views. I'm probably one who is too much of a cheerleader for some, but I luv "most" people as much as the game and will cheer for them regardless of how they got my chips.
Colling Wood, does that mean the engagement's off? lol
