Default 1st Mammoth - my play not so good.

I played my 1st mammoth tourney today. Don't usually have much time on saturday. Anyway made the final table and finished in 8th I think.

Made some good decisions and some very bad decisions. For some reason lately I get distracted and just call my way to the end with cards that I know are probably beat. Did it three times in Mammoth today.

It's easy to do when your opponent is just betting the minimum each time and you figure what the hey, it's only a few hundred more to see. A few on the flop, a few on the turn and you are so into it what's it hurt to throw a few on the river. Then you end up losing 1/4 of your stack before you know it. From now on if I am not willing to raise then I am not going to call. Well maybe that's what I will do - who knows. Bad habits are hard to break.

I know what u mean M_80, habits are hard to break. I still hold out for that river card all to often in hopes of getting that one card i need. More time than not that card never comes and my chips stack has "disappeared" some how in the mean time. I'm doing better, folding most times at the turn or enve the flop now. But at times i still wait for that river even though i tell myself i will not to do it. I guess i dont listen to well

M80, friend, it was good to play with you in the Mammoth, and a pleasure on the final table. I faired minimally better in the standings (6th), but missed out on the chips (top 5 positions paid). But still, scored a few more points for the standings!

Keep working it and you will get into the chips, the medals, and the Gold!

cheers!

M80 you played well m8, to get to the final table in the Mammoth is tough enough, you have to remember that the tourney is full with all the great players of the site, so very well done m8.
Hope to see you there on a regular basis.

Have to agree with Declan M80. Getting to the final table means you did well mate. I know what you mean about habits too, I have a few bad habits, and some of them have something to do with poker LOL. They say you should play the hand you have, not the hand you want.......easier said than done sometimes eh. Anyway well done on 8th.
