Apology

This morning there was a thread concerning the gatecrashing for The Originals tourney.I overacted and said words that weren't meant to hurt anyone. I was just sticking up for the group and I shouldn't have said it. I shouldn't even have posted.I wasn't thinking when I typed it obviously. I am certainly red-faced now and wish I could take it back. I just know how hard Jim and Tel have worked for the group and I appreciate it. I hope whomever is affected accepts my apology. From the bottom of my heart I am so sorry I even wrote those words.


Sally, I hope your father makes it through and comes back healthier than ever. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Come back to us soon.

Jim and Tel did work very hard on this group and I can understand the frustrations. However What happened could of been dealt with a little more privately and easily resolved with out all this drama. That is my opinion of this situation for what its worth and the only other thing I would like to say is Come back soon Sal x your an OP66 Queen

i would also like to apologise for my comments on this subject, as most of you know i dont normally get involved in such types of debates, so i feel i may have reacted in a somewhat OTT manner. Sorry to anyone offended by my posts

Baz... with all due respect... go back and critically review the thread in question... first of all, the matter concerning the 'gatecrasher', if you will, WAS handled privately... no names have been dropped, and won't be dropped. Tel and I were both frustrated but we were working different angles. He first informed me about it, and yes, I'll admit that I was frustrated (and he knew it). I was privately working the current instance behind the scenes via 'PM' with the person involved (sent a note but haven't gotten any response yet). Independently, he started the thread, more or less as a simple warning to try and ward off any further instances (and you, as a member, saw my original PM that was very clear about NOT sharing the password EXCEPT in an instance where a member forgot and asked another member, that the ONLY individuals that were to provide to a new member were either myself or Tel --- you have to admit this part was very clear). But again, I remind, at no point were names dropped. And yes, a few members of the group did weigh in on the thread, basically offering 'support' and recognizing the effort that he and I had into setting things up, and perhaps some of the comments were worded a wee bit strong, but AGAIN, no names were dropped. So to suggest that we (meaning Telboy and I) could've handled this a bit more privately, is perhaps misdirected.

What ensued is indescribable. Post # 19 on that thread, to say it was "over the top", would be a significant understatement. That it was authored by such a long-standing member of this community here, that it was authored by one of two individuals who have been involved in managing the recent "International Series" and is fully aware of the difficulties of getting private tournies established, quite honestly, in my not-so-humble opinion, is inexcusable. Further, if you go back and read responses that the author directed to me personally on the "International Series" thread, I can only say "kettle calling the pot black".

I feel bad that the situation denigrated to the level that it reached... the most ironic piece to this is that it's not even clear to me that there is any connection between the 'gatecrasher' that Tel and I referred to and the individual that the author admits to having shared the password with --- it well might've been a second person... no matter, it still went against a WRITTEN REQUEST that had only been provided to all members just days earlier.

Again, I regret that the situation slipped to the stupidly low level that it reached; but at the same time, I look back at how Tel and I reacted at the outset, and it was well within the parameters of what would be considered prudent and sound judgement, and well within established and written guidelines for proper forum usage.

I am hopeful that sound minds will once again prevail, that we can return to the purpose here... good poker, good sharing among friends.

isnt this an apology thread made by a member who feels a bit out of sorts as to what went on? why is it being sullied in this way? i take my hat off to dirtygirlie, but some people obviously have bees in their bonnets and even though the player in subject has been banned, would rather keep adding fuel to the fire.
well done dirtygirlie on your apology, even though it may not have been necessary, its nice to see some people realise that others have feelings aswell.

Please read closely, Jez... I start my comments in #6 with "Baz,...". If you have read the thread, you will know that this is in direct response to # 3 (no need to copy it in, as there'd been so few responses to date).

This is your 2nd response to a post that I've made on this subject reminding me that the author in question was "banned"... If you read # 19 closely, you will note that she indeed REQUESTED REMOVAL and was NOT banned from the site (it was her choice).

Thank you all for the responses. I still feel bad but thankful of everyones responses. I love this site and will continue to be a member. I would hate for words to ruin the experience.

I agree, maybe this thread should be closed too. Everyone seems to be trying to get their say in again, and its taking away

Everybody makes mistakes in life.Not everyone will admit to them and stand up and apologise...Mel has realised that the words she used were a wee bit over the top and had a different effect then expected.She has apologised and that should be that...This thread by Mel is an apology thread,and people replying to it should have respect for her and not try and turn it into a sequel of the original thread that caused all the problems............Mel,I have been talking too Sally and while thanking you very much she feels there is no need to apologise to her personally...She would just like people to sit and think about what they post before jumping to any conclusions.Sallys opinion on all of these witch hunt threads has always been stop,take a step back and think about why it has happened and what you might type in your response as it may have a detrimental affect on someone who may not be as strong as most..........She would also like to thank everyone who has offered thoughts to her and her father at this difficult time...
