choose gender during tourneys ?

I'd like to know if it's possible to choose your gender during big tourneys, because I have to be a man and well... I'd like to choose to be a woman.

Another question : what does "ul" stand for in the rooms ? "You later" ?

i think ul stands for unlucky but can't be sure. on the first question, i have no idea
