Default Does Aggressive = Good Player

I Have Noticed That A Dream Team Has Emerged
Im Impressed......but
Having Played Against All Of These Players At One Time Or Another
And Having Studied How They Play I Have To Say
A Lot More Is To Do With Big Betting And A Lot Of Luck Than Anything Else
No Offence To Anyone, everyone Has Their Own Game To Play
But Just Cause You Have A Big Stack Dosent Mean You Are A Better Player
Ive Seen A Lot Of Good Players Who Have Not Emerged Because Of Terrible Bad Luck......
Its Easier To Steal Hands When You Can Put Players All In Than To Make A Stack With Limited Resorces

Not Everyone Will Agree But Its My Opinion

I disagree but it's an interesting point. Why do guys like dd and dean have big stacks and are in the top 5 all the time? Because they are better players. There is luck involved with out a doubt, but a good player will cancel that out over time and reach the leader board, and stay.

I agree whole heartedly. There are many fine players who, because of chip management, do not advance even though their card skills are superior.

That being said, chip management is all part of the game. A superior card player might, for instance, recognize the folly of going to the ultra mega better table with only 500K to their account. They might play on lesser tables where they could use their skills to gain the chip stack needed to compete when the betting gets out of control.

This, I feel, is why the tournaments are paramount to bringing many fine players to the next level.

I have seen in the past weeks many, many new names on the top 66 list. As long as this list does not become stagnant, I thinks what should be happening through natural selection, is happening.

Tex

Hi all
I am a poker newbie - only been playing just over a month and now have to play on the non newbie tables. Can only say, as a new player, the aggressive player who goes all in with a big chip stack every hand makes for a very boring and frustrating game for the rest of us. Why are aggressive players so lucky on the flop, turn and river though? Don't quite understand that..and there has to be a knack in knowing when to call on a big all in and not to call. Even hands one wouldn't normally call on seem to go their way when an aggressive player goes all in.

nooooo not greedy, LUCKY sure there is lots of skill but when it comes down to it, it is a crap shoot and some players just get the right cards at the right time. everyone has their opinion just like i do but, skill is skill and luck is luck. like i said before if poker players had so much talent because of skill then they would be recognized like athletes and musicians are. so, can anyone tell me who is the best poker player in the world, what is this persons name. the best chess players are known and the best golfers are known and the best musicians are known, so why isnt the best poker player known. becuae poker players do not possess skil. it is like hunters. they all claim that they are engaged in sport while they are killing defensless animals but the truth is. there is not competition when it comes to killing innocent helpless animals with a gun when the animals have no defense. FOR ANYTHING TO BE LABELES A SPORT, THEIR MUT BE COMPETITION INVOLVED. WHERES THE COMPETITION IF YOU HAVE A RIFLE AND THE ANIMAL HAS NO WEAPON?????? yes playing poker playing has competition but luck overrides sport in poker because it is a guessing game. i just disagree that the skill factoroverrides the luck factor when it comes to games of CHANCE, the key word being chance.. MY OPINION!!!!!

OOOOHHHH i forgot to say this. i could see if you win real money in real poker, that would make you a great player who has skill to go with their luck, but anyone that only plays for free online cannot consider themselves a great poker player with great skill. besides most players here are not serious players they are having fun. taking the fishes replenishable chips doesnt make all of the players here that have millions of chips a skilled player. not if their playing here. if i do happen to stay over 100, 000 chips after gaining that many in a week, i still will be just another payer, i dont care how many tournaments i might win. but like i said thats my opinion. i really dont like the poker playing as much as just want to COMPETE. and have fun too.

Not sure I understand the arguments here. Poker is not a crap shoot. There is some luck, but good players put themselves in a postion to win with skill. Patience, reading opponents, knowing when to fold the second best hand at a table, knowing pot odds, require skill that comes with practice, analysis, and time. If you're playing a table with people making huge raises you're not comfortable with go to another table, earn enough chips, and then come back and take theirs. And again a good player here can reach the leaderboard and stay. Bad "luck" will not stop that. Sorry to sound so serious, but in poker as in real life, you create your own luck.

Right on TRoose. Some of you are obviously new to poker Because you don't have a clue what you are going on about. I would add to this post but Troose has just said everything and completely summed it up!!!!

Hi, all in from hand one constitutes a poker player who isn't actually interested in the finer skills of poker. Yeah, there's a time and a place for all in hands but honestly it's bores my arse off when i find i'm on a table with these players. On the other hand it's nice when they've done it successfully on a couple of early hands and get too cock-sure of themselves and go all in and get called and the other player wins. They tend to go quiet afterwards. Now that's nice, lol. I'm not that lucky all in but i have my moments and its never with AA's or KK's its usually 3, 5 suited lol,
Kezapeg.

it's so true. everytime i go all in before the flop, even with pocket kings/aces i always get beaten by someone who has gone in on something ridiculous like 2 4 unsuited, they'll get a straight or something. it's so frustrating

Great post,I Am God. It has been said before, this is a play money site. People play quite differently with real money. You for sure do not see the all ins with a 7 9 of spades lol. Any way again, great post. You have my respect for going against the grain. OP66 There is no substitute

Each to their own way of play.

Sometimes its not nice when you get big raises all the time by a player before flop. But I must admit I like it when I call their all ins and win !

Its not usually the regulars that constantly go all in but newbies trying to climb the ladder fast.

Love
Sarah

Id'e have to agree with TRoosevelt even if im not a top player, i can see that the top players are excellent at all th skills for poker.
Even if there is no money and people play differently, Good Players can read people going in and know there odds and so on and have the Best idea of wether to go in.
Luck is plays a big role, but just as the loose because of bad luck, you can also win because of good luck. And you have to utilize luck....

Dont know if this makes sense , but that's what i think
