Exclamation Invite tourneys : CONSIDERING IMPOSING 24 HR BANS

Hi,

due to recent issues we could apply soon a one day ban on players entering a booked invite tournament without authorization.
This would be applied even to players who've made "an error".

Due to actual process it's not yet live but will certainly come soon.

I Would then suggest a sticky thread of generic "OPEN TO ALL" ones and of clearly "NON PUBLIC ONES"

So as to make reference clearer for people who don't follow it all.

Anyone else agrees?

wont make a difference cause its a ban.

the ban wont remove them, just post and fold, but ban will be in place for 24 hrs

the hope is people will actually bother to check calender, and make sure the table is not booked before registering.

or even PM a mod or someone else to help if not sure,

why not have a pop up like when we log in about the 20k.
to say dont join the invite table unless invited.
then you cant say you made a mistake, take the ban

does already say this on the lobby before you register

OP66 Invitational : You have to book on calendar or have an invite to register here!

So what about the sticky thread suggestion I made above?

Would make reference earlier and also would keep chances of having more people in fully open ones, as I am sure all would be happy about?

Whatever people think is the most reliable way to get the relevant info in one easy to find place.

Reasons:

If tournaments are open, it is more fun for all to have the maximum of players instead of a deserted field (which happens and could become worse after this -good as such- new rule is enforced)

Often (or at least in my personal experience) people might see a tournament about tho start and since S&G's are mostly empty, they might feel like playing but don't have the time to look everywhere.

The only thing I know is that I have tried to be careful, but I don't usually follow the forum in all detail (nowadays I do a bit more but it is rarely the case).

The outcome is that I don't join the open invitational tournies anymore to make sure I don't create any problem... Luckily I never did, but it could have happened.

That is because I have had basically to modes for joining invitationals:

1) There is one I know about and want to play (and am welcome to) I book it in my agenda. I miss tons I could have played btw.

2) I feel like an improvised game here and now on OP66, usually as a break form working. There is no big tournament soon, no sit and go even half filled and one invitational starting in a couple of minutes.

Does it make any sense?

Lolol.

i think the problem is that the invite table has been used as just another tourny, and alot of players log in and see theres a game on and just join in
some dont even get to the forum to check calender, there is always going to be mistakes but the chance of missing your poker for not checking might just wake some players up

fully understand your points stern, however that would mean whoever books the table would have to post on the calender, and also forum.

so say its booked a week in advance on the calender, cant really see a point of also posting it on the forum a week before, it will get lost by the time it arrives.

people have also already posted on the day that the table is booked, and must have an invite to join, yet still there has been gatecrashers.

not saying the idea is unworkable, and yes in some ways the more it is broadcast hopefully the less chance of univited players joining

thats kinda the idea tel, a short sharp shock, and why only 24 hr bans is currently being considered

Everything else has been tried it cant be advertised more broadly, moderators have been pmd but cant remove people so if a 24hr ban is the only thing that will keep people off the invite tables so be it.

I understand what you say about it will just mean they have to post and fold but thats what current gatecrashers are asked to do but not always follow this way would mean it happens.

whatever happened to the ORIGINAL rules being enforced? :

INVITATIONAL TABLE RULES

1) ONLY PLAYERS THAT HAVE BEEN INVITED BY THE ORGANISOR ARE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT (UNLESS THE TOURNAMENT IS AN "OPEN" INVITE THEN ALL PLAYERS ARE WELCOME)

2) ANY UN-INVITED PLAYERS WILL BE PUNISHED WHICH COULD LEAD TO YOU BEING BANNED

a) FIRST OFFENCE: WARNED AND FINED.
b) SECOND OFFENCE: A TEMPORARY BAN.
c) THIRD OFFENCE: PERMANENT BAN

THE ADMINISTRATORS AND MODERARATORS WILL USE THE ABOVE AS GUIDELINES BUT RESERVE THE RIGHT TO BAN ON THE FIRST OFFENCE UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES.

SO ANY UN-INVITED PLAYERS THAT ARE ASKED TO LEAVE AND DONT COULD BE BANNED

THESE RULES HAVE BEEN PUT IN PLACE SO THE ORGANISORS TIME AND EFFORT IS NOT WASTED BECAUSE OF UN-INVITED PLAYERS SPOILING THE TOURNAMENT FOR EVERY ONE ELSE.
