New Members

I have been reading the posts about how we desire to improve the forum and get new people into the "family".

There is no shortage of new players added daily and while the system process has changed (originally to get to the poker you had to come through the forum) the quality of the forum and the private label tourneys has not, they are still a blast.

So what I would suggest as a starting point is a grass roots approach. When you are on a table with people you do not recognize, invite them.

Use the Member list lookup to go to their homepages and say hello, friend them or just welcome them.

I started doing this yesterday on every table, even if it is a real money table where they may, or may not be able to hear me. Welcome each new player. Invite them to the four daily and the ultra outlaws tournaments. Invite them to visit their own homepage on OP66, Invite them to visit yours, as we all know yours is the best one on here with all the customization you have done.

There are enough of us that this does not have to be a one man show, and since technically we can not push them to the forum or the OP tourneys, this seems like a way to start.

Sorry if this has been suggested before and lost in the piles of threads, but the simple answer is sometimes the best, so if you love the site, love the people and want to grow the free side to where you have to wait on a table again can we all agree that simply inviting would be a good way to start?

The Forum and The Tables do seem to be two different entities these days.

If I see new ppl. I try to encourage them to forum...Just last week was in a OP tourney with a player that was new to the play chip side...and I think he might of got a silver medal... and King Pete and myself was tellin' him he needed to check his page...he didn't even realize he had a page... I think it's a good idea for us oldies, but goodies...to invite table players over to the other side (forum)...Just maybe we can rejuvenate the forum....and get the fun goin' again...


If I run into a good natured and friendly person on the rings ...I invite 'em to join OP66 tourneys... So agree with ya Tex...it's up to us to make people feel welcome.

ok i totaly agree with this and i try to do it all the time
but it was brought home to me tonight that we are allways trying things for the new players from a player who never really reads the forum


his name is saxtonblade im not worrying about putting his name here as he will never read it

he told me something tonight that really shocked me he said im the only one from the old site that talks to him and he dosent know why

maybe we should all look at our friends list and add them to our buddy list on the poker lobby first before we start adding new players that we might forget in a few months

I showed blade the forum, PM's friendslist etc. remote, on his on pc. But if seen once, it is diffulcult for new players, to do work with it. Took me a while though, either.

Maybe a kind of instruction, with screendumps on here will help to get new player on the forum..

And well i like his banter and he is a great player and we have a lot of fun.

this coming from a newbie myself and although i come via google search and found this forum and then the table games i do feel that if i am said hello to or welcomed or asked if ive been to the forum side then thats when i know that the more expierenced of the site enjoy fresh names at their tables and forums so yes in my opinion texan u have a great idea.

i always introduce myself and encourage players to join groups i am playing in, or a tourny. it is a nice way to introduce and welcome new players here..pam66 did it to me here and i try to pass it on .. (i remember how it felt to be new) STL my friends!!
