Default op66 memories...

Been thinkin lately about how big the site has become, and how much it has grown. (Had some time to ponder these things with the reboots and all )
Particularly when I see cries of , "more tables, please..", and "why do people sit there when others are waiting?", and the like.
First, I'd like to acknowledge the admin team for the creation and running of the site, Lava et all; you do an amazing job, and there are many many people out there who's lives you've effected (for better of worse ) due to this excellent site and the community it has created and evolved into..Thank you.

Secondly, I come to remember "the old days" of this site. For those who have lately joined, and for those who don't know me from the tables...this site has grown incredibly since its birth, and I've been here since the VERRRY early (if not first few) days...

I remember when:

-there was only 1 table
-sometimes you would get on and there would be NO-ONE else on at all...
-...and having to wait an hour until someone finally did get on.
-later, 250k chips put you in the top 10 on the leader board
-alot of times, Lukeluk and I were the only ones playin.
-THERE WAS NO FORUM!!! *gasp*

-just a bit o' history that I thought I could share...anybody else have some...?:

ps to admin: wonder if you have a way to look at join date to the poker side? I know my forum join date, but that's waaay different from the date I signed up for this crazy poker journey....thanks

Nice Post.. Makes you wonder where it will be in 3-4 months time given the growth. A fine tribute to BlackLava and the mods

Unfortunately I can't recover the real join date for you (MrCool), it's written 26th January 2008 due to the the 2 months old database crash (I bet).
Or perhaps were you using another nickname before?

Time for the Ollllldd story : I remember TrumpCard before Lukeluk, been first for weeks too when the 66 rank on toplist needed 1200 chips
I wonder where is TrumpCard now, long time no see...
That's the internet

What a nostalgic thread

lol i agree with Lava what a nostalgic thread. My first memories were of looking at the top list and wondering how long it would take me to catch lukeLuk, Xrabbit, Camaro Kid, Susan and Big Mike. Only about 8 tables at that time but was still great fun. My biggest memory is getting my chips upto about 20000 which was enough to get onto the high rollers table and being absolutely terrified to lose them. For some reason that table had me on the edge of my seat lol.

I remember the first time i sat at the high rollers ...it was 100k it had taken awhile to get the chips up and Baz and ohhh cant remember who it was..... i was chatting to them while they played ( nothing unusual i still do that now lol ) LukeLuk was playing too he didnt speak alot , Baz convinced me to sit and play LOL, well Luke wiped me clear off the table in a couple of hands i was devistated . I thought i was going to cry , Baz told him that was a bit rough and told him he should give me back my chips LMAO it was so funny because then Luke found me at a small table and begged for me to let him somehow give me back my chips ... He even said i will ask Blacklava to give them back to you , I told him it was ok i lost and not to worry about it .
We used to have alot of fun back then ... You always knew the people you played now there are so many new people daily its hard to keep track .
But us oldies you will never get rid of i think xxx

what amuses me even more is that even without the 5% tax, no one has yet to break Sherman's record 150mil on the old script

A bit like the "sit n Go" tables these days then !!

I remember my first play on super high rollers with DeanReevs and JMahoney. DeanReevs was sitting out some hands and i asked JMahoney why Dean is not playing he replayed too me well he is old man weak heart so i thought for some time Dean m8 that you were old fart lol.
Also remember some old player who were top guns when i joined: vscanz, ddcoolfwz, worzelgunmage, hera, sitafox, lorena, k1mus, MICKO.
For first place than i needed 30m and you could be on top playing minis cause there was table super high rollers and that table was empty or only 2-3 players were playing on it( with 3m think only me DeanReeves, roo and JMahoney played others mostly with 500k so when you won 3m it was omg yesssssssssssssssss lol).

Just a few questions to try and build a Bayeaux Tapestry like history of OP66.
The reason i ask these questions is so newbies and people like myself can see how far this place has come and from where.
Im sure the Online Poker company would not like to get to its 10,25,50 or 100 year anniversaries whithout knowing these facts.

Did BlackLava start Online Poker 66?
Has this site always been called Online Poker 66?
When did Online Poker 66 open its 1st table?
When did the 1st multi-table torniments start?
When did Online Poker hit 100 members?1000 members?10000members?
How many people are registered on Online Poker 66?
When did the Online Poker 66 forum open?
When did the Online Poker 66 forum hit 100 members?1000 members?10000members?
When was the real money side opened?
When did the real money side hit 100 members?
How many members are there now?
