Original Members of OP66 - First Tourney Tonight!!!

i joined the site on 17th august 2008 so i recon i aint an original member.thats a shame

I joined about a week after that and I played on the old old site for about a month. Sounds like original to me.

Just for clarification to all --- when we talk about the "1st script", we are talking about the script that was "pre-Pitbull" days... a couple of things that folks will remember about that script are things like... the dreaded 5% tax (this was eliminated when we cut to Pitbull script), and things like... the sit-n-go's (except in those days they were called "mini tournaments") were wildly popular, where you'd sit at the table as a game were ending just to click for a seat in the next one. There was a chips top list which was very competitive to attain but even more difficult to retain because of the aforementioned 5% tax. There was no concept of "credit converters" for free chips... there was no Outlaws... there were not unlimited re-buys. New players came on site, start with their 1,000 free chips, and really work hard to make their way up the ladder of tournies, wanting to have sufficient chips to play "with the big boys and girls", but really respecting the more experienced players on the site. And the memories go on... these are just a thumb nail sketch.

To clarify further, there were actually two versions of that first script (both pre-Pitbull)... the earliest of the players on site remember OP66 without things like the Bazultra, the Twisted, the Mistress, the Mammoth, and mini's like the King of the Hill, etc.

And finally, this social group is simply trying to re-capture the essence of playing in those early, early days of OP66. We recognize that there are many good players that have joined OP66 since those days and we relish competing against new players and old alike, especially in the 4 big OP66 dailies (plus the weekly Mammoth). We also recognize that there are numerous opportunities for joining diverse and active social groups on the site (just to name a few, the Dirty Girls, a new, exciting and up and coming, and Spread the Love, a very successful group). There are plenty of opportunities for folks to get involved in these groups.

So yes, there will be some who will be saddened by our decision to limit this particular group to the early-era players, but we hope that all will respect our decision to form in this manner. In a little over a week since the announcement, we managed to sign up in excess of 75 members and conduct our first tourney with a near 50% participation rate. And we are actively seeking ways for this group to compete against other groups, etc.

I hope this helps to provide some level of clarification to the genesis of this group.

well said sir and a well thought out and clear criteria of who is eligable to join the originals
as you say we now have a lot of new players who are very well known and great at poker
so i think one of these good folks should start a new comers group and show us old timers the error of our ways and give us a few good tourneys
