Default Sleepers

Hi all was just wondering if anything can be done about people spending nearly half a tourney not playing and still get placed at the end.
I was just in a tourney and 2 sleepers got on final table and 1 even got placed in top 3.
I understand some people have connection probs , which must be very frustrating but isn't there away people who haven't played so many hands are taken out of tourney.....just a thought.

i agree outy,i think its clearly unfair for them to garner points by being sleepers.thats just not a done thing.think max the sleepers should be given
two or three rounds considering the fact that there is a late registration in place.dont see how they could make the final table and make points while a person playing from the begining and comes 16th and does not get a point.
no justification here.infact them being around is a hinderance and really not about getting thier free blinds,we not playing for thier blinds..

They pay their entry like everyone else. can't see the problem myself.
When I go to the casino, I can say to the dealer I'm taking a break, leave my chips on the table and come back in an hour, which I've done, should be the same online, and it is.

here, here Jimmy, yes it is frustrating, but well within the rules, you pay your enrty, your entitled not to play if you wish.Although it is a bit daft to enter, then not play

ps outy.
its like knowing there is a lake full of carp, but they're swimming past your bait and not biting

There have been many, many, MANY threads already where this has been discussed, and if I was a bit bored, I'd search 'em up and post the links here... but alas, I am not bored!

Going back to the original script, there was a timeout, I think after 5 hands have passed, if memory serves me correctly. At that point, OP66 was a "custom" skin where OP66 had control over the tables. We outgrew the old carpet and moved (and moved again), but with the moves, we were no longer "custom" but a member of a larger organization. Chiefly, OP66 no longer controls the table environment.

In this discussion, as it has already been aptly (and correctly!) pointed out, it is not in the spirit of the game to remove such a player. Once you pay the entry fee for a tourney, you have every right to do WHATEVER you please... sit at the table and fold every hand... sit at the table and go all-in every hand... post-n-fold, whether for a few hands or the entire tournament... play a tight tournament... play a loose tournament... WHATEVER... until one of two things happen... either you WIN or you run out of chips, whichever comes first. If you win, place, get a medal, get points... don't matter HOW you got there... you paid the entry fee... you EARNED it. If people on the table aren't able to outlast a sleeper, that's NOT the sleepers fault! If people aren't able to take advantage of a sleeper, that's not the sleepers fault! I laugh when I see a sleeper win a hand --- saw it yesterday --- Reaper won a hand with quad 10's... sleeping!

Cheers, folks! It's all in the game!

Absolutely!

You pay the entry fee, you have a right to play like a donk!

Doesn't mean you won't be CALLED a 'donk', but you have every right to play like one!!! Touche'!

Yes u do unfortunately, you can post and not play, you can post and play if you get to the final table. YOu can do almost anything you want in poker but still think that it is a CHEAP way to build up your tourney points !!! They should be earned.

As a new tourney player I asked why there were sleepers on the table and was told they enter to make up the numbers - so that a tourney can go ahead.

there is another side to the coin here folks!
some of our main daily tourney's would not take place
if some players did not reg even tho they don't intend to play
yes call them sleepers if you will, i'm talking mainly about
wombats and new york times 2 tourneys that really struggle for
enough players at times.and i'm quite sure some player's would
rather have a few "sleepers" than NO TOURNAMENT AT ALL.

just my opinion folks but as i see it your damned if you do
and damned if you don't.
