i agree with u stern.
i used to win atleast 1/2 tourneys a week or even win a few meadals.
but now i havent won a op66 tourney in a while.. i feel that the level of play in them is poor now days and the "bingo" affects my game more than i thought it would..
i mean even if ive got aces its hard to win with them with 4/5 players in the pot..
the only decent tourney is the mammoth witch i played in on sat and came 3rd.
but no matter where u play there is always gonna be bingo unless u play high enough stake cash games/tourneys..
deano..

Same for me. I didn't hit crap. Was unlucky with one kicker, caught on a move and then out.

Still, overall play was fine and I played more than half an hour, so I count it in as good poker without doubt.

I don t understand what are you all talking about... I played couple of tournaments since i got back. Lost some won some but all in all bad beats happen. If you play only good hands you will be the person who get bad beat all the time. I would not call mammoth better cause less players play and it is more tight game. Every tournemant of this 5 is challange for itself and you will get more risk in tournemants with more players. Thats poker... And if you want too catch crap hand you must play a lot of hands with minimum bets.

Danz: indeed you did not understand.

IT has nothing to do with the quality of my hands, what I hit, what I choose to play or else.

The only thing I am adressing here is an evaluation of the pleasure I can have when I join a tourny.

Because the last 5 or 10 before I started this thread, I really didn't have any and just either let the game rot and die-out or I left.

When everybody calls huge preflop raises recurrenty (already much steeper raISES than should be, of course the last ones to call have interesting odds) for example.

In short, when it is imposssible to play a game that resembles somehow real money conditions, I get bored.

I use to cope with it, nowadays I simply can't and find it a waste of time. So I'd rather do something else when that happens

I am just making a log book (since I asked a quetion and gave an estimation) of the play I meet: a SUBJECTIVE EVALUATION to answer my "odds" question over time.

Hope it clarifies.

Thanks for the poker "lesson" anyway. Mwahahaha!

Danzzzzzzzzz. How are you, m8?

Congrats on reducing opposition to bacon and putting it on a stick for borchette, old pal.

The thing is I am never bored when I play money games and almost NEVER encouter the kind of play I refer to here (I do not play low tables nor super high ones).

Hope to see you soon on the tables!

LOL very interesting thread Stern my friend Now you can see why I am not on the tables much and very selective about what I play here. I like to play good tourneys here to catch up with friends but recently Ive had my allins called by players with hands such as 85 off suit and 10 J off suit with all the wrong odds to take me out. Now we all know poker is poker but come on would these players be calling my allins if I said Im allin $1500 and not 1500 free chips? The answer is NOOOOOO so like yourself I am here for the love of the game, the forum and my friends. As for the poker I like to find a good tourney amongst good friends and good players here but not so easy to find these days.

Hmmmmmmmm, ok now that I have taken the time to read through this thread I won't bite your head off lol. LOL, at first it did sound like you were saying this site was lousy and that the poker sucks but after having read your clarifications I understand that was not the case. HeHe good thing to because im so sick of all the this site sucks type attitudes lately. For me the odds here of finding an enjoyable good game of poker would be 8/10 which for someone who plays a ton of poker here(be it the high stakes rings, or the opp tournys) that is pretty dang good. My favorite tourny here is wombats and the one I tend to play the most. I think all of my medals give or take one including my recent gold medal come from that tourny. Wombats tends to be more tight/agressive style of play I think, for Hetmens at least of the few I have played it is real loose, New York Times is agressive, and I have not played the crown enough to get a real feel for that one. Mind you these are how I feel the play tends to be course it is poker and anything can happen.

It was nice to see you on the tables again. Good Job on Silver. It was a great Wombats and so much fun to watch. Congrats to weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee man for winning lol. I loved that whole weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee through out the game. Cheers and good luck at the tables.

Honestly if we are talking about ring tables only one is good and that is high stake table. Others are all in all the time. Played a few and got sick of it. Nothing too learn on them anymore... Big tourneys are like before but also it is play money so it can t be compared with real money and a lot of old people left... So arranged sit and go would be best game play money on this site.

tourneys are no better or no worse than before............in fact they are probably an improvement as blinds go up every 10 mins compared to 6 mins on last site....means you can play more hands with min risk..........depends on your strategy play aggresive at the start or play a tight game.......challenge is still there.............rings though are poor set up is poor need more 6 table ........bad beats happen and bad plays win but.i refuse to say good hand to a bad play.....

Yes thanks, Aus!!!!

It would be sad to close an interesting thread just because three people keep throwing fire at each other.

So please post either:
- You "subjective odds" of playing a good game wherever you prefer playing

- The niches where you find good play and why.

It is an interesting ressource for many, I am sure.

Keep personal, nominal, grievances out.

Thanks in advance,
Stern
