Uploading profile background

I have had a couple of people aske me this now, so Ill do a full step by step on it! screen shots included!

Heres how to add a background image to your profile:

first you need to add a pic album,
first go into your usercp!


then there will be networking, then pictures & albums, click that!




then bottom left corner of your screen should be add album link!
click that.



then type in what you want it to say, then weather you want this album or pic to be public, or private etc... then click submit,

then "click here" to upload picture, then browse your computer folders to find the pic/pics you want to upload!

Thats the adding an album bit, the background bit is a little bit easier imo!

Right then, now youve uploaded the pics you wanted uploaded, click your album bottom right corner.

then click the image you want, then 2 urls will appear! 1 BBcode 1 picture url copy the picture url one


then go to your usercp, then customise profile, then on background image box, paste that link to your pic, then click save, (make sure you select how you want it to be repeated! then should be all done!

well left click on the start of text say this! 1000001 left click at the first 1 (keep the left click down) then drag your mouse along until the last 1 is highlighted, then right click!
then left click copy, (or when somthing is highlighted, hold Ctrl then press C, then to paste hold Ctrl then press V)
then when you got your little typing cursor blinking, right click then left click paste!

ok, well theres a thread around the place somewhere on this, but Ill explain a little in brief!

first press the screenshot button (PrtSc) when you want whats on your screen to be copied!
then go into a program such as microsoft paint,
then go "edit" on the top toolbar of the "paint" program. then there will be a drop down menu, so then click "paste" and your Screen Shot should appear!
if not, there are other ways!
but Ill explain them as last resort

Oh yea, if you want to know how to get the image hosted,
so you can post it on here or another forum.
go to www.imageshack.us then click browse, then upload your desired image

Upload the picture to an album on your page. Go to the picture and under it you will see two links, one starts Http and the other [img], copy the Http link.

Now click on User CP near the top of the page and then select Customize Profile from the menu on the left. This is where all the elements for your homepage are set up.

The first section is MAIN. In here you set the look and feel for the entire page. The last line, in the middle is the background. Paste the link you copied earlier in here, then select the Repeat as Both (this means repeat the graphic up and down and left to right to fill the whole background.

Now click save and open your page to view the results.

You cam play with all of it to tweak it the way you want it. You can also reset it all back to start at the bottom of the page.

There is also an option when you create a new album to have it be a Profile album. If you create this and load pictures into it when you are customizing your profile you can click the Insert Picture button to the right of any graphical element, it will display all the pictures in your profile album.

This allows you to select and change them easily without having to open multiple windows and copy the link for the picture from another album.

ok, after months and months of putting off customising my profile, i have just done it, took me 15 minutes, much much easier than i thought it would be, so if you havn`t done it yet, DO IT!!!!!

great thread an glad to see it's helping you all.
lfcfan has various links on his signature strip which are very informative an well worth a look.

also a good way to learn is to just go into customize an just play around, change a few things an see how it looks, you can't really go wrong as you can also reset.

go to user cp and edit avatar, click to disable custom avatar and click to put on picture hope that helps, only 1 picture authorised
