[QUOTE=CaptainSandy;476453]How's about this for the very first hand of the $100 qualifier, he took 5 players out with A,2 - all were all-in preflop.
Shortly afterwards I was heads up with him but I had 3000 chips to his 12000.
That's 4 attempts this week and 4 second places.
QUOTE]

Phew, just got my voucher on the 6th attempt...this time in my heads up I had 1,800 chips to his 13,200 - so never give up, lol.

I can't complain because of all the freebies like Outlaws vouchers and such, but I again feel like the PokerPoints tourneys are super expensive. 50 PP for a $2.77? I realize that you could win more than $2.77, but still just seems steep to me.

My two cents (or my 2 PP) worth.

to be clear, Duke... it's 50PP to try and win a voucher... you can't even enter the main tournament without a voucher. So the 50PP's sits you at a 10-seater where only the winner earns a voucher... as stated by several on this thread already (self included), you can indeed get through, just being aware though that the level of play is VERY bingo-ish. I didn't win on my first pass --- if memory serves me correctly, my voucher cost me 3 entries (150pp's).

That all being said... the payoff here seems much better (IMHO) as compared to some of the other PP tournies (e.g., the $10 PP freeroll, etc.). At the same time, I only have a voucher... haven't played a tourney, so I haven't won a dime on this one yet!

Good luck if you decide to join the merryment!

Cheers!

It's only 25PP to try and win a voucher.

PPs do not cost anything so how is a $2.77 for an outlay of nothing a poor return?

edit - also remember in week 2 this 'free' entry tournie returned me $21

right ---- I was mistaken --- 25pp... thank you

I'm with you, Cap... I think it's a reasonable outlay for the PP's

Yeah this is definitely better than the other PP tourneys, but my original statement was including those too. 25PP a person for a 10 seater makes the voucher worth 250 PP and $100 guaranteed but what about 100 players? So basically the 25 PP can be turned into a lot, but straight up value it's about 250 PP for a buck. And since every 10 PP is a dollar contributed to rake or tourney fees it's like we get 4% back with this deal.

So I'm not complaining. It's better than nothing. And you're right, Sandy, PP aren't worth anything if you don't use them. I just feel like the pricing could be a little more reasonable. No biggie, though

How frustrating.... was in the tournament for 57 minutes... 3 minutes to break... then this hand... to be honest, I don't blame him for the play at all --- he'd been very loose the entire tournament... I'd been playing a bit tight, certainly picking my spots, and was maintaining a top 10 position... sure, I'd like the hand back... I certainly would wish for a different river, as well, though...

Missed you Jim, saw Nash early. Managed to get to the final table to bust out in 9th, so not too bad.

GL all.

tried the qualifier. an hour and a half of play to bubble 2nd place. some donk goes all in 1st hand with 9 7 off and tripled up. he had me 4:1 chips going into heads up but I got him down to only about 7 BBs then this happened:

Bemyatm shows ] three of a kind, tens

Blinds went up again and it was just too much. I committed myself to an open ender on the flop and he showed up with top pair and I didn't pull through.

I guess it's a great way to make money if you don't really have that much in your account, but it's a lot of time and effort just to get in the tourney and 3 times more IN the tourney to maybe not even get anything for it. Plus if you have a 75 PP or so for a few buy ins, you likely already have a bankroll anyway. It's like a longer more laborious freeroll with a better payout at the end.

I'm glad that some of you are having success, but I'd just prefer a regular game.

Congrats, cap'n and better luck next time jim.
