Update:-

Start - $8 (from zero)
January - $118
February - $160
March - $151
April - $200
May - $194
June -$237
July - $188
August - $180
September - $175
October - $240

Despite having a big increase this month I've lost four showdowns with over $40 in the pot, was winning three of them before all in except one (kk v AA), so could've got got over $300 with a bit more luck.
Already £30 down this month, lol.

Been an up and down month, reaching over $300 and dropping to under $200 before finishing in the middle.
I could go mad in December and try to reach $500 but think I'm happy enjoying playing regularly with free money.

Howdy Dean,

Can you please explain me the bankroll management concept?

I need this info. Coz, I lost whopping 10$ which I won from 0 here and besides, I lose my practice chips a lot. I made a mil many times through mini mammoth and ring games, then lose it in a day. I think I don't know some real easy things which I should follow.

Thanks in advance. And I agree with your sig. In fact I put this "FTR" problem in tech side of the forums.

hi m8, ppl have all different kinds of bankroll management, they play with the ammount they feel comfortable with..

but the most common one that ppl use and i use is make sure u have 20 max buyins for the stake u are playing at.

ie: say u are playing at a $0.05c/$0.10c cash table with the max buy in of $10 u would need a bankroll of $200. (10 x 20 = 200)

if u build ur bankroll upto $400 then u can move upto the next stake and play $0.10/$0.20c cash tables with a max buyin of $20 (20 x 20 = 400) and so on..
hope this helps m8.

Well the year is over, so how did I go getting from zero to $500......................I have $16.11 lol so I failed miserably. More importantly though was that I had fun trying.

Well done to everyone who set themselves a goal, even if you didn't achieve it you tried which I reckon counts for a lot......if you don't try you'll never achieve anything. I hope you had as much fun as I did and the very best of luck to you all for the year ahead.

Well said stevo mate...and your up for the year, paid for having fun, cant beat that my friend

Im on $72.91...but to be honest never put time aside to play and hardley ventured into tornaments..need someone to hold my hand
My wins came from double ups and heads up games, which i found im a pretty solid player in,did find i play much better on cash,as i only play when i have no other distactions..

Well done to everyone..and best of luck for this year

Thanks for the thread Steve, without it I'd be sitting with zero in my account.
But I made a real effort this year and finished with £255 in the bank, winning $40 on 30th December from a $3 freezeout.
Most of my success came in the first half of the year from the double-ups, but in the second half had bigger wins but also bigger losses on the ring tables.
Gonna ease off a bit in 2011 but can now enjoy a game without worrying about my balance.
If I ever get to $500 I'll post it on this thread, lol.

Thanks Darcy, Ulti and Sandy,

Really well done Ulti and Sandy, sure sounds like it has worked out well for both of you. Sandy I have no doubt you will get to and exceed $500 so the best of luck to you.

I'm really glad my thread prompted you to attempt it, but all the credit for your success is due to your persistence and hard work so good onya mate.

All the best for 2011 to you all.

Just to illustrate that there are differences, I follow these principles.

For No-limit cash games (it is different for PL):

25 buy-ins. One buy-in is a 100 Big blinds. So if you play 0.05 and 0.10 as in Deano's example you get to 250$ (0.10 x 100 = 10 x 25)

For Sit and go's and tournaments.

50 times the tournament buy in. So if you play tourneys at 5$, 250$

These tend to be a bit strict figures, I found them best working for me.

Your playing style determines what limits you should play in relation to the size of your bankroll. F. ex: If you are a very tight player then you should expect to receive a reduced variance to that of a loose-agressvie player, therefore you may be able to afford to reduce the amount of buy-ins in your bankroll.

If your bankroll drops below the limit, then you should also drop down a level so that you are playing within your bankroll until you have built it back up enough.

If (and only if) you have more than the required buy ins for the next limit, then it makes sense to move up to that limit. Just be sure to drop back down to the lower limit if you experience significant losses. No ego, no ego....
