| I was playing omaha and my starting hand was four of a kind (treys)!!! Statistically, I'm sure that it's rare. Unsure of what to do, I folded. My thinking: If I had gone all in and anyone called (as they always do), I'm sure I would have been beat. I knew I had a few options; two pair, and longshots for anything else. But they were only threes. I probably should have limped in... but I admit, I was a little too shocked to really play. I guess my question is: How do you play four of a kind in your starting hand? ![]() |

| So I had to look up stats on starting hands... in case anyone's interested A specific combination of two cards (A/2 - 2/3 - 3/4 – etc) 13:1 A specific combination of three cards (A/2/3 - 2/3/4 - 3/4/5 – etc) 85:1 A specific combination of four cards (A/2/3/4 - 2/3/4/5 - 3/4/5/6 – etc) 1057:1 Four cards higher than 8 25:1 A Straight Wrap (four cards in sequential order) 97:1 Any specific pair (2/2 – KK – AA – etc) 42:1 Two Pair 95:1 No Pair 2:1 A Couple of Suited Cards 25:1 Four Suited Cards 95:1 Three of a Kind 108:1 Four of a Kind 20824:1 A/A/2/3 of any Suit 1409:1 A/A/2/3 Double Suited 22559:1 |

| Happened to me as well once (Low cards, not sure which anymore). I folded too. Because someone had raised so there was no question. Wouldn't be sure otherwise, probably still fold unless on blinds. Best you can hope for is a full house, still not too likely to happen. |

| I started with 4 Kings once, folded it down real quick. Not much improving with that.

| I don't know .. I usually go all in with 4 of a kind except this deuces bug in the first hand of turneys if table is full. My understanding is that stronger than 4 of a kind can be only straight flush or royal flush (seen that one only 3 times in my life). Isn't it??? |

| but its omaha unless its like a great middle four of a kind...so people can't get a straight...i would probably call it...but 4 of a kind as your starting hand is probably one of the worst hands...i don't fold it automatically...but i would never go all in that... ![]()

| When dealt 3 or 4 of a kind in Omaha, I usually fold. The hands never turn out to win. |

| mmmmmm....sorry i dont get it,iv just read roos thread on how too play and basically its the same as texas but with 4 cards,yr saying its best to fold 4 of a kind?? i thought thats a high ranked hand,i summise that with 4 cards dealt the winning or a good hand are straight flushes ect.... think i should go and watch a few games first...i need a break from texas |

| yes, stjimmy is totally right, you ve got a pair of 3 without any chance to have a third 3 on the table.. someone with a 4 in hand and a 4 on table will won..

| another reason it is a bad hand, is that you cant get a flush, and v unlikely to get a straight. |
